A BATCH OF DISTINGUISHED CONVERTS.

The Morning Leader, the new London daily, says :— The new Archbishop of Westminster is arranging to confirm a considerable number of notable converts from Anglicanism. Amongst these may be mentioned Lady Somers, wife of Lord Somers— not the Countess of that ilk, as inaccurately stated by the World : the Baronesß Sherbourn ; Lady Edith Cecilia Howe, daughter of Earl Howe, and sister of Lord Curzon, M.P. ; Miss Bvered, of Wadhurst Castle, Sussex ; Mr J, L. Pearson, the ecclesiastical architect ; Mr Paul Lawrence Huekisson, grandson of the well-remembered economist and statesman of that name ; Mr Gilbert Firebrace Marshall. Furness Lodge, Sonthsea ; Major Walter Cotton, 8.A. ; Mr John Long. The Firs, Walberton, Sussex (late 10th Hussars) ; Mr Neville Taylor, of Bock Abbey ; Mr Laurence Eip, grandson of a Protestant bishop ; Mr Waugh, son of tbe Bey Benjamin Waugh ; Messrs Coleman and Durant, members of the Anglican brotherhood and Mr Donald Arbuthnot, son of the Hon Donald Arbuthnot. The two great universities have recently contributed some " recruits to Borne," one of whom has left the Isis to enter the novitiate of the learned Order of St Benedict. Seven or eight clergymen of the establishment who have submitted to the old Church are now preparing for the Catholic priesthood, bnt amongst recent accessions occur the names of the Bey Howell Lloyd, M.A., a gifted member of the Cambrian ArcbasologicalJSociety ; Bey Howell Pattison Lewis Blood, M.A., rector of West Bergholt, Colchester; Bey F. Berant, M.A., of St Michael's, Shoreditch; Bey Hugh Lean, M.A., a nephew of the Bey Mr Coles, chaplain of Pusey House, Oxford ; the Bey Dr James Field Spalding ; the Bey Herbert Bootby, M.A,, etc. Members of High Church sisterhoods figure, as is frequently the case, somewhat largely in the list. The Archbishop of Westminster has received an entire community of these ladies into the Church.
