' Byegrass Seed— The market up to the prssent has not been quite so favourable for outdoor work as could be desired, in conseqoence transactions in the seed line have not as yet assumed to any great dimensions, still small lots are almost daily moving off, and in due time we look forward to a good business being done at late quotations which are for best dressed perennial, 3s 9d to 4s; medium, 3s 3d to 3s od ex store .

Cocksfoot seed has a moderate demand, and we look for a further improvement a little later on. Best, 3fd to 4*d ; medium, 3d to ojd per lb.

"Factory cheese : po inquiry, medium size nominal, 4sd to 6d : loaf, 6*d to 2£d ; dairy made, 3d to 4d per ton. Flax—Late reports from the London market continue unsitia* factory, holding out no inducement for farther operations locally, meantime, at any rate, and until some improvement sets in at Homo buyers here will not be disposed to purchase.

Pigs — 188 penned, and good demand experienced. Sbeepekina— We submitted a moderate catalogue to a large attendance of buyers ; prices good. Babbitßkins— Large catalogue submitted, which was cleared at fairly good prices. Tallow— There is an excellent demand for all lots coming to hand at late rates. Wheat— Business at present very dull. Oats— Market weaker, and demand moderate. Barley— A few lines of milling have been disposed of. No malting offering. Potatoes— Market glutted ; good demand for well-picked Derwents. r

Messrs Donald Beid and Co. report as follows for week endine August 3 :— * Babbitekins— Good catalogue submitted ; competition keen, and good prices realised. Good winters (backs and does) sold at 16d to 16$ d ; early, lljd to 12£ d ; autumn, 7*d to l(tyd per lb. Sheepskins-Moderate catalogue offered to large attendance, and prices unchanged. Hides— Quotations remain unaltered. We will clear all at hand during this week. „ Tallow— Strong demand for local consumption. Prime rendered 18s to 20s ; medium, 15a to 17s 6d ; inferior, 12s 6d to 14s 6d : rough fat, 9a to 13a per cwt. 8 Wheat— Business in this cereal continues dull.
