The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited, report fur week ending February 3, as follows :—: — Store Cattle — Some business still continues to be done in these, more particularly in grown cattle, although a considerable number of young stock, one to two years old, are being picked up for shipment to the North Island. Store Sheep— A considerable number change hands from week to week, bnt prices demanded by sellers are to some extent limiting the number that would under more favourable rates be disposed of. 6heepskins— Tuesday's auctions were well attended. Buyers competed well for All the lots brought forward. Country dry crossbred b, inferior to medium, brought Is 7d to 3s 8d ; do do merino, Is 5d to 2s 8d ; full-woolled crossbreds, 4s to 5s 9d ; do do merino, 3s 2d to 5s ; dry pelts, 2d to Is 4d ; green crossbred pelts, beet, 2s 21 to Is 9d ; others, Is 7d to Is 4d ; lambskins, best, Is 9d lo 2s 2d ; medium. 1b 6d to Is 8d each. Rabbitskins— There are no sales of any consequence now being effected. Hides — No improvement to note in the tone of the market. Heavy, in good condition, 2£d to 2£d ; 65 lbs and upwards, 2] d to 3d ; country, Hd to 2d ; light, l|d to l£d ; inferior and slippy, d to Id; per lb. Tallow— The demand continues steady without any alteration in prices. Prim 9 rendered mutton, 18s 6d to 19s 6d ; medium to good, 16s to 18a ; inferior to medium, 13 to 15s. Rough fat, best caul, 12a 6d to 13s ; inferior to medium and good, 9s to 12s per cwt. Grain — Wheat : The market continues aomewhat flat, particularly ■a far aa the demand for milling of any sort is conoerned. Quotations nominal, say for best milling, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; medium to goad, 4a to 4a 3d ; inferior to medium, 2s 6d to 3s 9d ; ex store, sacks weighed in, terms. Oata : The market for these is also quiet ; the odd lots coming forward are difficult to place except at a reduction in prices lately ruling. Barley : No business of any consequence passing. Grass Seed— The tendency of the market for rye-grass seed ia evidently downwards. The idea prevailing is that pricts will range from 2b to 39 6d for farmers' parcels. Machine-dressed, however, will have the preference, and undoubtedly wiU sell at higher prices relatively. Potatoes— The market continues over-supplied. Prices at auction on Monday ranged from 22s 6d to 32a 6d per ton for kidney potatoes, sacks weighed in. Chaff — The sopply this week has been on a more extensive scale, ■ales in consequence are not easily effected at last week's quotations. Best brought 62s 6d to 67s 6d per ton. Daily Prodace — Butter in Pond's boxes, dairy -made, slow of sale at 6d to 7d ; factory-made, lOd to Hi per lb. Factory-made cheese, medium size, 4d to 4£d ; loaf shape, Hd to 5 1 per lb.

Messrs. Stronach Beos. and Morris report for week ending Jaruary 27 as follows :—: — Fat Cattle— Best bullocks sold at L 7 to L 8 17s ; best cows, L 5 10s to L 7 2s 6d ; other do, L 2 to L 5 s<j. Fat Sheep — A moderate entry fcr the week's supply. Croßsbrcd wethers sold at 12s 3d to 14g ; do ewes at 9d to 13a 6J ; merino wethers (mtdium) at 7s 6d. Fat' Lambs— Brisk sale for all in. Best brought 93 to 10a 9d ; extrß, 11s to 12s 61 ; others, 7s to 8s 6d. Pigs — All sorts were dull of sale at low and unprofitable rates. Suckers sold at 6s to lls 6d ; slips at 12s to ICn ; porkers at 17s to 24* ; baconers at 25s to 335. Hides— Quotations for heavy clean and free from scare, 2jd to 2&d ; 651bs and upwards, 2|d ; the usual run of country hides, ljd to 2d ; light, l£i to IJd ; inferior and slippy, £d to Id per lb. Tallow— l he tone of the market continues firm, but then are no indications of any immediate improvement. Grain — Wheat : Quotations are again merely nominal — say, for beat milling Tuscan and velvet, 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; medium to good, 4s to 4s 3d ; inferior to medium, 2a 6d to 3a 9J (px store, sacks weighed in, terms).— Oats : We quote Dnme milling, la 7id to Is 8d ; best Btout bright feed, Is 7d to Is 7£d ; medium, Is Gd to Is 6^d ; inferior, Is 3d to Is 5(1. Prices, 25s per ton for new kidneys. Chaff— Market steady ; 65s to 70s for best.

Messrs Donald Beid & Co. report having held their usual weekly eale on Wednesday, February 3 :—: — Wheat — Business in this cereal continues very dull. No bosinpes of any moment is being done. Hi me milling, 4s 5d to 5s 10J ; medium, 4s to 49 4d ; inferior end fowl wheat, 2a 6d to 3s lid. Oats — We quote — For dun oats, Is B£d; milling 1 , Is 7d to Is 7£d ; short bright feed, Is Gd to Is 6£d ; discoloured and long, Is 31 to Is s&d (sacks extra). Barley — A limited inquiry, but none offering. Potatoes — The market is glutted and prices are lower. Prime are worth from 30s to 40s ; inferior, 20s to 27s 6d. Chaff— Market fully supplied. Prime, £3 59 to £3 8s 6d ; medium, £3 to £3 2a 6d.

DUNEDIW HORSB 8/VLKYARDS. Messrs. Wright. Stkphenson and Co. report as follows : — A moderately large entry of hordes wag offered, principtlly m«de up of medium draught and harness horseß. Tne demand right through the sale was dull, and although nearly all the country horses wero sold, prices on the average were not up to those ruling of late. Firstclass draughts (extra heavy) L 25 to L3O ; good ordinary draughts (young), LlB to L 22 ; medium draughts, Ll2 to Ll6 ; aged draughts, L 6 to LlO ; good hacks and harness horses, Ll2 to Ll6 ; medium backs and harness norses, L 7 to L 9 ; light and inferior hacks and harness horns, L 2 10 j to Lo.
