Country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought 2a 2J to 4a 2d ; on do merino, Is lOd to 3s lOd ; fnll-wooiled crossbreds, 4s lid to 7a 6d ; do do merino, 4a 4d to 6s Id ; dry pelts, 41 to Is lid ; batchers' graen crossbreds, extra larsre pelted, 6s 5d to 7s ; best do half-breda and fine crosabreds, &i lOd to to 6s 3d ; good to medium, 5a 3d to 5s 9 1 : coarse-woolled and small, 4s 6d to 5s 2d ; green merinos, 2a 8d to 4s Bd. Rabbitskins. — The demand continues strong, resulting in keen competition. Prices ruling tbis week showing but little difference compared with those of last week. Hides— The market is unchanged, demand and value remaining the same for months past. We quote— 6olb hides, 2|d to 3d ; medium weights, 2d to 2£d ; light do, l£d to l|d ; inferior do, Id to l£d per lb. Tallow— The regular demand for local consumption continues unabated, but there is very little doing in shipping lines. We quote — Medium to good rendered lallow, 163 to 183 ; inferior and mixed, 12s to 15a ; beat rough fat, 12a 9d to 13a 6d ; inferior to medium and good, 9a to 12s 6d per cwt. Grain — Wheat : Telegrams to hand this week are less favourable, advising that the English wheat market has a downward tendency, while the Continental is declining, and the American changing for the worse. Meantime, this report will, no doubt, check any inclination for purchase except of actual requirements which are becoming more pronounced. A few sales are being effected, principally prime. We quote— for prime milling (Northern, velvet ani Tuscan), 4a 9d to 4s lOd ; medium to good (Southern), 4a 2J to 4s 6d ; inferior, 3a 9d to 4s ; ex sore, sacks wei^hel in, terms. Oat 9 : The market continues Bteady. We quote — for best milling, Is 6£d to Is 7d ; best abort bright feed, Is 6d to Is 6£d ; medium, Is 41 10 Is 6£d ; inferior, Is to Is 3d ; fcmall lots for eeed occasionally from la 8d to Is 101 ; ex Btore, sacks extra, net cash ; |i per bushel more f.o.b. Dunedin. Barley : There is no business of any consequence bting done in malting lines. We quote— for malting, nominal, say for prime, 2s 3d to 3a ; medium, 2s 5d to 2s 8d ; feed and milling, 2s to 2s 4d ; ex btore, sacks ex'ra, terms. Grass Seed —Moderate demand for ryegrass seed. Best machinedreßsed, off old pasture, 5s 6d to 5a 9d ; Pacey's imported, 5s 3d to 5a 6d ; Poverty Bay, 6s 6d to 6a 9J. Less demand tor cocksfoot seed. Bes: dressed, 5Jd to 6d ; medium, 2sd to 5i per lb. Potatoes — There is no improvement to report. Best Derwents, 278 6d to 30s ; others, 20d to 25s per ton ; sacks we ghe t in. Cbaff— Quotations for best, 47s 6 1 to 50s ; medium, 42s 6 1 to 45s ; inferior, 25d to 35a per ton. Dairy Produce — The market is quite bare of piime salt butter, and would realise 9d to lOd pir lb ; medium plentiful and no demand. Factory made cheese has a slightly oetter demand, principally for intercolonial orders, but prices do not show much improvement, say 4|d to 5d for medium and 5d 10 5|J per lb for bes>t. Flax — i'he position of the market at Home stems to be less satisfactory, prices slightly declining, but at the moment the small business done locally will not be much affected in consequence.
