Davies' turnery woik6, Moray Place aad King street. Dtmedin, are conducted in first-class style. Wood turning of every description is done there. Father Tolton was born a slave in Missouri, thirty-six years ago. His mother escaped with her children to Chicago. He subsequently became a Catholic and studied for the priesthood, and was ordained in Rome after sis years' study at the Propaganda. He is now officiating in Chicago. What an impressive illustration of the priceless boon of Freedom, which has not only rescued the helpless victims of slavery, stricken off their manacles, and he*led their wounds and bid them walk forth as freemen, but has with infinite care and tenderness, fanned to vigorous life the dimmed spark tf intellectual fire in many a soul, and led it forth from the drearydungeon of intellectual darkness to the cheering light of education, refinement, and leadership amongst men. Thus is made manifest the i mysterious providence of God, who exalts the bumble and confounds the mighty of the earth. — Irish Wfrld.
