TO THE KDITOB N. Z. TABLET. Sib, — I have the pleasure of enclosing a cheque for £3, sub3crib3d by the Irishmen of Hampden in aid of the Parnell Dafence Fund. Please forward it to Dublin with other subscriptions, and kindly publish names of subscribers.— l am, etc., Land Leagues. TO THE EDITOB N. Z. TABLET. Sib, — In yonr issue of the 3rd inst., re a collection at Shand's Track, in aid of the P.irnell Defence Fund, it was stated that Mr. Henley collected the sum of £31 11s 6d, whereas he collected only the sum of £12 15s 6d, the remainder being subscribed at a public meeting before Mr. Henley received (he list. I may also say, that in the amount credited tome, my subscription of £3 3s was not include!. By inserting the above you will oblige.— l am etc , Tai Tapu, 6 h May, 1889. Thomas Lkathem. TO THE EDITOB N.Z. TABLfcT. Sib, — The following p.»ra^rhph appears in the letter of your Obrislohurch correspondent :— " A cMlvctum was made at New Heidford in aid oF the Parnell Defence Fund. Mr. P. Henley, who i 9 always warty to advance his country's cause, woiked most energetically to m<ke the sum collected a handsome one. He was ably seconded in his effoits by Messr". Leatham. Donohue, O'Neil, and O'Drissoll. Mr. Re. ley collected £:U lls 6d. Mr. Leatbam £7 2s, Mr. Donohae £4 IS)*, and Mr. O'Neil £4 Is. This totted up a very respectable contribution for N«w Headford." Now, t-ir. I think your correspondent has been misinformed, as I know Mr. Henley has not collected the amount he is credited with. If t.e has, then the amount Bhould be £50 13s 6J, instead of £47 133 6d, as I have collected at anyrate £3. I think, sir, the gentlemen interested should hive rested satisfied with the report and names of subscribers sent 1o ihe Tablet by their appointed sec. c ary, Mr. F. Ryan, and t^ tried to grasp all the credit for one who did not pay any more than I know he could afford, and what any liisnman in his ciicumstances is ia duty bound to give ki defend the chosen leader of the Irish people. Now, in my opinion, if honouriib due to anyone in this uistrict, it is to Mr. Jamea Gammack, of Springston, who, although not an Irishman, bat an upright Liberal Scotchman, was the fir^t in this district to f-end his subscription of £3 3s to the Parnell Defence Fund, even, I believe, before Chrh'ebuich moved in the matter. — 1 aai, etc., ' Lincoln, May C, 1889. James Doherty. TO THIS tDITOIt M.Z. TABLtT. Pitt, — Just a few lines residing the Parnell Defence Fund at New Headford. At a meeting that was calhd to forward ihe money to you, ir was deci'led to have the mee<iug published in the TABLET, also the subscribers' and collectors' nnmep. The collector' names failed to appear, The (Jhns church correspondent has, 1 nee, published the nauieH of the coili'etois. In justice to the mbsciibers and c >nespondent I hope you will give it no more publication, as it has appeared twice. — I am, etc.. New Headford, May 4, 1889. P. Hknlio. I !
