A SAD OCCURRENCE.
The village of Notown has been thrown into a state of great excitement by the news whiuh has just arrived from Lake Brunner to the (ffect that an old and highly respected resident of the district named Thomas Tuckey, aud also Joe Molloy, a fine boy about seventeen years o£ age, a son of John Molloy's, were drowned on Saturday evening, the 9th inst., by the capsizing of the boat in which they were sail ng on the Lake on a picnic excursion. Mr. Jeremiah M'Carthy, member of the County Council, John Williamson, Harry Whitnal, and Oscar Hediestram, were also in the boat at tbe time of the accident. J. M'Cartby clung to the boat, which kept turning over and over, and the other three kept swimming around. Eventually the whole four were saved from a watery grave by the plucky action of Mrs, Mitchell, the proprietress of the Lake Brunner Accommodation House, who, observing what took place, accompanied by two boys in a dingy came to their relief, and succeeded in takicg the whole four into her small boat.
