GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.

Messrs. Samuel Obb and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending March 7, as follows :— Grain — The new crop continues to come to hand slowly, not large quantities. The quality is really prime, and good samples may be expected this season— the weather, especially north, being favourable for this cereal. We quote from actual sales : Prime milling, 3a 5d to 3s 6d ; ordinary, 3s 3d to 3a 4d ; fowls' feed, 2s 6d to 2s lOd. Oats. — Only a moderate demand exists for these fer shipment, reports from Melbourne being unfavourable, owing to the large arrivals there recently. The quality offering so far is tip- top, a number of really splendid bright samples having come to hand. We quote bright milling, Is 9d ; extra good, a shade more ; ordinary, Is 8d to Is B£d ; inferior, Is 6d to Is 7d. Potatoes. — Market glutted at present, large supplies having come in from the north ; prices from £2 7s 6d to £2 15s. Chaff. — The new cat is coming to hand plentifully, prime oaten fheaf, well cat, being worth £2 10s to £2 15a ; ordinary, £2 5s to £2 7s 6d. Grass Seed. — fiye-gras3 supplies are now coming forward. The demand, however, is slow indeed, farmers' samples being with diffiaulty placed at from 2s to 2s 6d, according to quality. Cocksfoot : A little business is doing for autumn sowing, while for shipment there is also a spurt. Prices may be said to be here 4Jd to sd. Mb. F. Meenan, King street, reports— Wholesale prices, bags included : Oats, medium to prime, Is 5d to Is B£d. Wheat : milling, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; fowls'. 2s 9d to 3s. Barley : malting, 3s 6d to 4s 6d ; milling, 3s 6d ; feed. 3s. Chaff : best, £2 15s ; medium, £2 ; hay, oat, £3; rye-grass, £2 15s. Bran, £2 ss. Pollard, £3 ss. Potatoes : £2 10s. Butter : fresh, 4d to 8d ; salt, nominal, sd. Cheese, 3d to 4d. Eggs," lOd. Flour : sacks, £8 10s ; 501 b, £9 ; roller, £9 10s to £10. Oatmeal, £8 ss. Roll bacon, 6d ; sides, 7d ; hams, 9d.
