ENTERTAINMENT IN DUNEDIN.

A vjsry pleasant aod successful entertainment was »iven in the old church building, Dunedin, on Monday evening in aid of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The programme opened with a chorus for ladies' voices by Wekerlio, which was very sweetly given. Mr. J. B. Gallan then zave one of his ckver readings from Dickens which a» usual delighted the audience. Miss D. Horan mxt contributed a song in a very finished stjle, and was followed by Miss Mary Popplewell who played with bnlliancy as a piano solo Moszknowski's " Valse de Concert." Mrs. Ang'.s then s-ang Molloy's "Kerry Dance," in a manner that almost surpassed her far-f.imed powers, and was as perlect as it well could be. Mr. T. Br,.cken,M H.K., gave a recitation with his accustomed ability „nd secured a warm measure of applause. Mr. H. Matthews sang I'insuti's '• Outpost," with good effect, and the Misses Wo ids and Con way gave very pleadingly Auber's dmt, " Come O'er the. Moohght Sea." The second part of the entertainment consisted of some very well arrang'd tableaux vivants; the Highland Fling danced in character ; anil the Nursery Rhymes Quadiilles, both musical and terpsichorean. A veiy enjoyable evening was spent by all who were present.
