Mb. Donald SxBONACtt (on behalf of the New Za^land Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the week ended October 21 as follows : —

Fat Ctttle.— There is a demand for all descriptions bat there are not many offering. We have no »aW to r^p >rt. Btore Cattle. — 201 head were ya ded at Burnside to-day for the week's requirements. Nearly all these were good to prime, only a few being of inferior quality. Competition was tairly active, but prices obtained scaicely reached last week's. Best buJocka brought £9 to £11 15s; others, £5 15s to £8 10d ; and cowa in proportion. We quote beef 25* p r lOOib. Kat Sheep— 3,2s7 were penned; of these 1,010 were merinos of medium quality, the balance cross-breds, representing all qualities. This number was rather beyond actual requirements, and m consequence a decliue of from Is 6d to 2< per he*J from last week s prices wa3 the result. Best cross-bred wetuers iv the wool bnught 14s 9d to 16s 9d ; medium, 12s 6J to 14s ; do a born, lls 6d to 12s ; do ewes do, 8s to 10s 6d ; merino wethers iv the wool. 7s to 10a 6d ; shorn do, 6s to 6s 6d. We quote mutton in the wool, 2^l to 2£d per lb.

Fat Lambs. — 275 were penned. This supply was in excess, especially as the quality of the most of these was ouly medium. The prices to-day ranged from 8s to 13 i

Pigs. — 177 were penned. Competition for porkers and baconers was again dull, and low prices iuled ; while suckeis were in slightly better demand.

Store Sheep. — We have no transactions to report.

Sheepskiuß. — We submitted a full catalogue of all descriptions at our weekly sale on Monday. There was the usual attendance of the trade. Competition was brisk all through at prices similar to last week's as regards merinos, and a slight advance on cross-breds. Country dry cross-breds, low to medium, broug.it 91 to 3s 7d ; do do merino, 8i to 3s ; dry pjlts, Id to 7d ; butcners' green cross-breds, 2s 9d, 3i Id, 3s 4d, 3* 6d, 3s Bd, 3s lOd, 3s lid, 4s 31, 4s 6d ; do do merino, 2s lOd, 3s, 3s 2d, 3s 4d, 3a 6d, 3s 7d ; greco pelts, Id io3sd ; lambskins, 2d to sd.

Rabbit-skins. — At auction on Monday we had a good catalogue. There was a large attendance of buyers, who competed spiritedly for all carefully-saved and horn itly-cla^se J well furred winter skins, but for inferior summer and black spotted pelts there is but slight demand. M^rks and prices as follows : — JD. 10 bags. 5d ; F in diamond, 1 bale, 2| i : M, 1 bag, 6£d ; do, 1 bale, l^J ; AX in square, 1 do, 5d ; do, 1 bag, 15£ d ; do, 1 bale, 13d ; Dot iv triangle over 88. 1 bale, 14^d ; do, 1 do, 14£ 1 ; S, 4 bags, 13d ; Dalvey, 2 bales, 6s ; do, 2 do, 13d ; CD, 2 bags, lid ; do, 5 do, 15±d perlb. Hides. — We have no alteration to note in either supply or demand, which coutinue about, the same. Last week's quotations are applicable, at which all our consignments have been disposed of.

Tallow. — The matkt-t continues dull, but little demand existing. We quote inferior and mixed, 14s to 16s ; medium to good and prime, 17s to 218 ; routrh fat, 8s to 12s per cwt. Grain. — Wheat: Recent values are being maintained, and a fair demand continues to exist for all qualities, good hard white velvet in particular ; but as stock in agents' uands are all but exhausted, and deliveries very meagre, we look for continued firmness, and quote,., choice milling 3s 4d to 3-t 6d : medium, 3s to 3a 31 ; inferior anil fowls' wheat, 2s 8d to 2s lid (• x store).— Oats : We have to report a good stea ly business ; although the market has not been characterised by any special amount of activity, go id clearances have beea effected. Oursales throughout toe week have tully supported our last quotations. Wf> quote stout bright milling, 2s Id ; short bright feed, Is 10£ I to Is 11-} d; medium and discolored (if sweet), Is 94 to Is lOd ; d»mj or mmty, Id 3s to Is 8d ; long oats are not mquired for much. — Barley : Tbere is bat little demand for auy description of this cereal, aad the market b -ing quite baie, transactions are limited. Prime malting (oominal), 3s to 3s 3d ; milling, 2s 5d to 2s 81 ; feed, Is 91 to 2s 3d. — Kye-grass Seed . The market is bare, and any farmeis' lots offering would command ready bale at from 3s to 4s 3d, according to quality. Cocksfoot is more plentiful aad not m very active demand, at from 3d to 4}i.
