A marriage which, if not quite unprecedented, is of rare occur* ence, took place at Chusheen and was a source of much jubilation on the part of tbe peasantry. The bridegroom was Mr. Theobald Butler, son of the late Colonel Butler, D.L., Ballyline House, and the bride, Miss MaTy Griffin, daughter of the herdsman on Mr. Butler's estate. It appears that the young gentleman became acquainted with his bride duiing his father's lifetime, but there being the usual objections in cases of the kind, he was prevented from following Bis inclinations until after the death of his father, which left him cole possessor of an estate with a rent-roll of some £4,000 a year, together with £30,000 in liard cash. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. Hogan, P.P., Crusheen, assisted by the Rev. J. F. Maguire, CO., and Rev. B. Scaolan, CO. It shoul Ibe mentioned that Mr. Butler, whose ancestors for generations were Protestants, embraced the Catholic faith on the day preceding his marriage, tbe sacrament of Baptism having been administered by Father Hogan.— Exchang?
