Mr. Barton Ireland, a member of the firns of Ireland Bros., tanners, at Auckland, was seized with a fit of coughing at 1 o'clock yesterday morning, broke a bloodvessel, and died an hour later. It ia stated that Dr. Philson, coroner, intends to hold a post mortem examination of the body to ascertain the cause of death. It is believed that death was caused by over-excitement and over-exertion in respect of the elections. When the Poll was declared at Wanganui the hustings broke down.
