Ykstekday, the Feast of Corpus Christi, Pontifical High Masg was celebrated in St. Joseph', Church Dunedin at 11 a.m., His Lordship the Bishop acting as celebrant with the Rev. Fathers Walsh, and Lynch, as deacon and sub-deacon respectively, and the Yen. Archdeacon Coleman as master of ceremonies. The music of the Mass was very sweetly sung by the Dominican nuns' choir. In the evening there was a procession, with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. On Sunday Exposition will take place from the termination of the H a.m. Mass until Vespers. A gbeat defect in the electoral Act seems to be that in event of a qualified voter's moving from one district into another, a month mnst elapse before the registrar is authorised to transfer his namo upon the roll, and consequently he remains disfranchised for that period. There can be no reason for any snch vexatious, and possibly injurious, delay, and the matter should be amended immediately. It is excessively ridiculous that an elector should lose his vote merelj because he moves from ene street into another, conveying all his household gods with him, and continuing as responsible as before, or, perhaps, even becoming more so. Thk Venerable Archdeacon Coleman, having, with much success, completed his collection in Dunedin and its suburbs, will visit Mosgiel on Sunday next. On Sunday the 22nd inst., he will appeal to the Catholic congregation of Port Chalmers, and on the Sunday following he will collect at Palmerston and Waikouaiti. We feel convinced the Catholic people of the country districts will prove as liberal as those of the city in aiding their Bishop ia his great and necessary undertaking. The Archdeacon hopes that those persons who have promised subscriptions will see their way towards an early payment of them. The " Practical Home Physician," of which a second and very much improved edition is about to be issued by the Globe Publishing Company, is a particularly valuable work, and will be found of inestimable use to the head o£ any household, or any person of ordinary intelligence who desires to preserve or restore health without constantly calling in the aid of a doctor. The work contains a clear and easily understood description of the symptoms of pretty nearly every disease known to science, with full directions for its safe and easy treatment. Those portions of the work especially which deal with wounds and explain the effects of poisons and their antidotes, are well worthy of study, and doubtless have already' re. suited in healing many a sore and saving many a life. We may confidently recommend the work to our readers, and, considering its value, the price at which it is sold is moderate.
