The Marlt-lanc Express gives a very good account of the English hop crop. This crop is a very important aud valuable one for Borne of the finest districts of England. We wish we could say as much for the flax crop of Ulster, which is by no means so satisfactory. Nothing this year seems to have thriven in Ireland but turnips. The potato crop is a fair one, but it is in many places considerably diseased. The rain at the opening of this month did a great deal of harm generally. — Dublin Freeman, September 8.

Yet the late chief secretary of unhappy memory and the hero of Clontarf have been just brought into a degree of relationship which explains the putting two such opposite individuals side by side.
