Mr. Dostald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the .week ending Octotber 17, as follows .- — Fat Cattle. — With the exceptionally small supply of 64 head, prices considerably in advance of last week's were obtained. Wilson Bros, 20 at 19a 6dto29j. - ■■ • ' Sheepskins.— We closed- our Monday s-catalogue at an advance on last week's "prices for both merions and cross-breds — merinos fetching from 3s 9d to 4s 3d for green,' and Is 6d to 4s 5d for station skins. Cross-bred?, green, 3s lid to 5s dry, Is 4d to 4s 3d, ; Rabbitskiris.— We are advised of several lots,to arrive daring th« week, and will hold a sale on Monday, 29th inst.' v Hides.— All coming to hand are easily disposed of at late quotations. Tallow. — We disposed of all forward on Monday at equal to last week's rates, or for medium, 27s to 29s ; prime, 30s to 32s 6d ; rough fat sold at from 14s to 21s 6s. Grain. — We held an auction sale on Thursday, when, with a full attendance' and good competition, the following' quantities were sold :— Oats : 286 bags, Is 8d ; 238, Is9d ; 43 Is 9^d ; 239, Is lOd. Wheat : 600 bags at from 2s to 3s 2d ; 44, 35,8 d; 7, 4s 2d. , Barley :14 baga 34s 4d. In consequence of the small quantity of prime wheat forward little has been done in this line, while inferior sorts remain dull of sale. We quote :— Prime velvet and Tuscan, 4s 2d to 4s 3d ; do, red straw, 3s 10d to 4s 3d ; medium, 3s 3d to 3s 9d ; inferior and fowls' wheat, Is 9J to 3s. Oats : Values remain unchanged. Best milling, Is 4d to 2s ; short bright feed, Is 9d to Is lid ; medium, Is 8d ; mixed. and discoloured, Is 5d to Is 7d Malting barley is worth 4s 3d to 4s 9d Ryegrass Seed : Little is doing in this line, tie demand having fallen off, and quotations are only nominal. Machine-dreesed, 4s to 4s 6d . Farmers' lots are hard to dispose of.
