Caidinal Newman, now in his eighty-third year, has translated a play from Terence and called it " Pincuna ;or the Cup-Bearer." It was performed at the College of Edgbaston, over which Hia Eminence presides, before a remarkable audience, including many of the nobility, several of the Oxford heads of houses, and numerous distinguished literary men. The Cardinal was called repeatedly before the curtain. He had eliminated the gross elements of Terence's comedy, leaving the piece acceptable to modern audiences^
