The attempt to substitute Italians for Americans, Irish and Germans in handling freight in New York during the strike has proved a failure, the new men not having the requisite physical stiength, Most of them voluntarily retired from sheer exhaustion. — Pilot. The Dublin Freeman,, of June 24, contained the following list of priests ordained in Waterford, Ireland :— " The following students of St. John's College were ordained priests by Most Rev. Timothy O'Callaghan ; Diocese of Leeds— Revs. Michael Dickson, Michael MeAuliffe ; Diocese of Devonport — Rev. Richard Dollard ; Diocese of Nebraska — Rev. James Hodges ; Diocese of San Francisco — Rev. Patrick Bannon. During the year the Rev. Thomas Cullen Morrissy, for Birmingham, aud the Rev. — Mulcxhy, for Waterfoid, were also ordained."'
