The Buenos Ay res Herald of April 30, says that " the latest news from the West Coast is all important, and the attempt made by some Peruvian troops to organize a ' guerilla ' warfare has signally failed. A band of about 400 Peruvians attacked the town of Chosica, but the Chilian commander at once sent some regular troops in their pursuit ; the ' montonera ' were completely routed, and numerous prisoners taken by the Chilians. The result has been so decisive that further ' guerrilla ' warfare in Peru is not anticipated. It is to be regretted, however, that the efforts of the Chilians to establish a Peruvian Provisional Government have to the present proved so unsuccessful, sufficient time having now elapsed to afford the victors ample opportunity for the work of reconstruction. It remains to be seen what .definite shape affairs will yet take on the West Coast, as it is quite evident the spirit of resistance by the Peruvian people to the Chilian authorities defeats their efforts. The Jewish World says the chief changes it observes iv the Revised New Testament tell altogether in favour of Judaism.
