Me. Donald Steonaoh Con behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited), reports for the week ending sth May, as follows :—: —

Fat Cattle. — The market was well supplied to-day, 220 heads having been yarded at Burnside. The demand was not very brisk, and last week's prices were scarcely sustained. Bullocks realised from £5 7s. 6d. to £12 2s. 6d., and cows £3 12s. 6d to £7 17s. 6d. per head. We disposed of a draft of mixed cattle on. account of W. J. M. Larnach, Esq. Prime beef may be quoted barely 225. 6d. per 1001 b.

Fat Calves. — The supply was insignificant. Fat Sheep were in good supply, 2898 having been brought forward. The demand from the trade was good, and prices advanced to per lb. Cross-breds realised up to 12s. 9d. ; and of merinos a few only sold, at 9s. per head. We disposed of 398 head on account of Mr. Sheddan Brugh, and 459 on account of Messrs. Little Brothers at from Bs. to 11s. 6d. We quote prime mutton 2d. to 2£d. per lb. * # * In our report of last week, for 3810 read 2810.

Fat Lambs. — 180 were sold at Bs. 3d. to 10s., according to size and condition.

Store Sheep. — The demand continues active, l?ut the supply is very small.

Sheepskins. — We disposed of a large catalogue at our weekly sale on Monday, when, with brisk competition, satisfactory prices were realised. Butchers' skins fetched Is. Bd. to 2s. Id. for merino, and, Is. 9d. to 3s. lid. for cross-bred ; full-woolled skins up to 4s. lOd. for merino, and 4s. 9d. for cross-bred ; lambskins, 2s. Id. to 2s. 10d., and pelts up to Is. sd.

Hides. — There is no change to record. All parcels coming to hand can be readily placed at 20s. each for butchers' green hides, and 3£d. per lb. for wet-salted. Tallow. — For local consumption we have sold parcels of fair at 245. per cwt. Rough fat may be quoted 16s. per cwi. Grain. — Wheat : We have made sales of good quality at 3a. lid., and we hear of no transactions at a higher figure than 4. for the best, which may be considered the top price, with only a languid demand. Fowls' feed we quote at 2s. 6d. to 3s. per bushel. Oats : The demand for shipment has subsided for the present, and we do not hear of purchases for local wants. Quotations are nominally the same as last week. Barley cannot toe quoted higher than 3s. 9d. for finest malting, although this is below holders' ideas. Sales have transpired during the week at 3s. 6d. to 3s. 9d. per bushel for good fair to fine.
