M. de Lessens is travelling from town to town in France with a view of inculcating the benefits to be derived from the proposed canal across the Isthmus of Panama. In so doing he naturally alluded to the projected canal, which, he said, would meet with the same success as the Suez Canal. Its utility, he declared, would be very great.
