Aura, of ladies was held at the Dominican Convent on Thursday, 31st ult, to arrange all matters connected with the approaching bazaar. The ladies who kindly consented to preside at the stalls were : No. 1 stall.-Mr 8 . Dr. Fergusson, aad Mrs. Spring No. 2 sta 1.-Mrs. Scanlan, Mrs. J. J. Hall, Miss M'Kay. No. 3 stall I Mrs. Farley, Mrs. Haydon, Mrs. Potter, Miss Donnelly. No. 4 stall - Mrs J J. Connor, Mrs. Hagarty. Jliss Leary. The first Sewing Bee will take place on Saturday, 9th August, at 2^ o'clock, at which alt ladies kindly pu^osmg to work for bazaar are invited to attend Subscriptions toward, bazaar fund were ,eceived from Mrs. Meade! subscriptions to the Lady Superior, for the general fund of the bazaar. The date of the bazaar is not finally decided on. Our subscribers will be pleased to learn that we have made arrangements for a further improvement in the Tablet. We are about to give monthly correspondents' letters from Dublin, Rome, Sydney, and Melbourne. As this step necessitates a considerable increase of outlay on our part, we trust that our subscribers will see the reasonableness of our request that they will be punctual in their payments, and that they will do all that they conveniently can to increase our circulation by prevailing on their friends, who have not as yet done so, to enter their names on our subscription list.

James Lowther) moved the second reading of the Bill recently introduced by the Government in the place of that of the O'Connor Don. for the creation of a Roman Catholic University for Ireland. In doing so, he proposed the establishment of scholarships and prizes in connection with the University. The Bill was read a second time after a discussion."

We desire to remind our readers that the representation of the " Foundling of the Forest," to be given in St. Joseph's School Room, Dunedin, on the 18th inst., will be in aid of the Creche. Ladies only will be admitted.

A Committee meeting of the Dunedin Catholic Association was held on last Monday evening, Mr. N. Smith in the chair. The resignation of Mr. A. Corrigan as librarian was accepted ; Mr. T. Deehan sub-librarian, was appointed to the vacant post and the sub-librarian-ship was left over till next meeting. It was resolved that the members of the Association approach Holy Communion in a body on next Sunday week, beiug the Sunday within the Octave of the Assumption.
