THE CLUTHA LEAVER,

The Clutha Leader says Bishop Moran has translated diwimulare incorrectly,— Bishop Moran has not done so. He did not undertake to translate dUumnlarc at all. Iv the passage referred to by the Lender, Bishop MoRAN was not translating the vox-da of Gurv but giving in very concise terms liis real teaching ; and thfe he did most correctly. The Clutha Leader also says Bishop Moran is, a Jesuit This i& news to Bishop Moran. He is not, he regrets to any, a Jesuit He regrets it because he would consider it the highest honour and the greatest happiness to be enrolled amongst the sons of St. Ignatius But he has not this honour and happiness. He does not consider himself worthy to be even the servant of this illustrious company A company that from its beginning to this hour has been remarkable for the number of great men in every department of learning and the great number of saints it has produced. The Jesuits throughout the whole period of their existence have been great amongst the first men in literature and science : princes amongst theologians, and nnsurpassed as historians, commentators of the Holy Scriptures, linguists, philosophers, astromoners, and physicists : great as missionaries, as masters of the spiritual life, great in sufferings foi the faith great in their loyalty to the Holy See : in a word, trreat in almost every excellent way in which men can be great : amongst thefirstin intellect, in genius, aud in services to God and humanity.
