There is no truth in the report that Cardinal Simeoni or the Cardinal Vicar have ever asked the Italian Government to send troops into the Vatican. The f nnctions of Cardinal Simeoni ceased as soon as he had communicated the death of the Pope to the Ambassadors and Nuncios. — Ttitet.
