AN AWKWARD PREDICAMENT.

Seeine no game when he reached the spot, he laid his gun dowr on a low shS" vmg rock and went down to a pool to drink! after which he relumed Sat reSed^m & and t fe" asl^P- ** a short time the neat letlected from the rock awoke him, and he saw a larec lion SSSSSa thr^h ?*s% GyeS gla;in» in Ws foce, a and SS 1N L wi yard from his feet. He sat motionless for some time till he had recovered his presence of mind ; then, eyeing his gun he moved his hand slowly towards it. The lion, seeing this^ised hi® head, and gave a tremendous roar. He mnde another, and another iTudTs tho ? teMpt ' b? *?, *"> hdnS far be y°nd ™* «SK gave it up, as the hon seemed well awave of his object, and was enraged whenever he attempted to move his hand.
