Henby Dbiter, on behalf of the New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Company, reports as follows for the week ending April 5, IS76:— s Ftit Cattle.— A very full supply of 200 head were yarded, mostly good to prime quality. Pi ices showed a considerable decline on last week's rates. Best bullocks brought iVotn £10 to £12 10s each; ditto cow 8, £9 to £13 for prime heavy weight?, or equal to 27s 6J per lOOlbs. .At the yards and privately wa have sold GO head. Fat Sheep. — There was also an over-sunply of 3,000 forwarded, of which 2,000 were sold to the trade at 9s 6d to* 12s Gd for cross-breds, and 7s Gd to 9s 6d for merinos — or equal to 2\d to 2]d per lb. for best mutton. At the ynrds we sold 700. Fat Calves. — 20 were penned, and brought fully late prices. Fat Lambs. — 200 were penned, and being late in season, half had to be turned out unsold. We sold 50 at 7s 6d to 9s 6d each. Store Cattle. — 1 lure is a good demand for well-grown bullocks and cows at late quotations. Store fchcep.— During the week we have sold 3,500 of various descriptions at the following prices :— Cross-breds, four and six-tootli, at from 9s to 9s Gd ; ditto, two tooth, 7s Gd to 7s 9J ; ditto lambs, 6s to 7s ; merino wellies, two, four, and sis-tooth, 5s 6d to 6s ; ditto, full-mo .thed, 3s to 3s Gd ; merino ewes, two, four, and six-tooth, (ia to Us 6d ; ditto, full-mouthed, 2s Gd to 3-\ Wool. — We ha*e advice of the opening of second series of London wool sales. First day's sule bales offered ; competition brisk, but price 3 slightly lower. We sold a small catalogue of wool this afternoon, for which we had good competition, prices being fully equal to late ruling rates Average to good greasy ftVece, Bito 9d per Id. Sheepskins were in more active demand, more especially butchers' shorn skins, merinoa selling 13d to 18d ; cross-breds, 22d each. Hides sold at a blight advance on List week's rates; medium salted, 18s to 19s ; gieen butchers', 20s to 2ls ; calfskins, from 2s to 5s 6d. Tallow. — We sold several lots of country miJeied ; inferior, 2ls to 235 ; fair, 2n> to 28s. Grain. — Wheat continues very firm at 4s Gd to 4s 7d for good milling, at 4s ;Jd to 4s 3d for medium samples. We have placed 1,200 bags :it these figmes and have inquiry for shipping parcels. Oats are at the pies^nt moment brisk ; s.-ik-s at Is 9il to Is lOd per bushel for good ficd, up to 2s (or milling, whereas all our outlets for shipping are veiy much depressed iiy the laige supplies coming to lumd. &1 el bourne advices are very dis-eouraging lor shipping, thfie being only a freight, and thnt a small one, between the two markets. The statistics of Otago being now pubh.-hed, as well as Canterbury, 7,000,000 of bushels of outs are represented as tbe growth of the two Piovmces. With such facts before us, we cannot expect present ratos to continue after jde iveries commence. Burley — Maltsters are buying cautiously, whi st holders of blight tamplsi are asKimr 4s Gd to 5s pur bushel respective ly. Mb. A. Mekceii reports for tlio weik ending April 5, 1876 — Bctoil prices only . — Fiesli butter in Alb and lib prints, Is 6 I to Is yd per lb ; fies-h butter, in lumps, Is 6d ; powdered and salt butter, Is 6d. Fre&h butter is not quite so plentiful, and the demand continues good, notwithstanding the prices rising Suit Lutler in ke^s, Is 4d per lb ; cheese, best quality, Is to Is 2 i per lb ; sido and rolled bacon, Is to Is 2d per lb ; Colonial hams, Is dd per lb ; English hams, Is 6d to Is 8d per lb j eggs > cry scarce, and retailing at 2a 9d to 3s per dozen.
