Mb. Henby Driver, on behalf of the New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Company, reports as follows for the week ending March 15, 1876:— Fat Cattle.— Seventy-nine head of cattle were yarded afc the weekly sale 3 to-day. Thia number being a moderate supply, were all sold at rather better prices than have been obtained during the lust fortnight . Best bullocks brought from £9 to £14 ; ditto cows, from. £7 10s to £11 10s— or equal to 30s per lOOlbs for prime quality, and 25s for medium. At the yards we sold 30 head, and have placed 50 head privately. 1' at Calves. — Only about a dozen were penned, and brought from tfOs to 50s each, according to size and quality. Fat Siieep. — We are still obliged to report an over-stocked market. About 2,800 came forwaid for the sale today, consisting chiefly of good cross-breds. About one-half this number wore sold, the balance held over for next week. It will therefore be seen that unless supplies come forward less Cicely the market cannot recover. Best cross-breds brought from 10s 6d to Us Gd each, and merinos from 7s to 10s 6d — or sny 2 id per lb for the former and 2J per lb for the latter. At the yards we sold 500, and have placed a like number privately. Fat Lambs. — 130 were penned, and being for the most part of good quality, wero all taken by the trade at prices raaging from 9s to lls 6d. We sold 80 at above rates. Store Cattle. — The market remains unchanged. Well-grown quiet cuttle fil for grazing are in requost at former quotations. Store Sheep. — We have no alteration to mako iv our late quotations. Young sherp of every description continue in good doraaud, with but few offering. During the week wo have 501d4,500 of various so"ts at prices about equal to following quotations: — Crossbreds, four and six tooth, 0s to 9s 6d ; ditto, two tooth, 7s 6d to 7s 9d ; ditto lambs, Gi t^ 7s ; merino wetheia, two, four, and six tooth, 5s 6d to 6s : ditto, full mo thed, 3$ to 3s 3d ; merino ewes, two, four and six tooth, 6s to fis (itl ; ditto, full mouthed, 2s 9J to 3i 3d. Wool. — Our London office reports by cable that the Februnry sales closed flatly. Nearly all descriptions have declined id to Id. Greasy, market easier. Lambs' wool unchanged. The sales comprised 107,000 bales; 40,000 have been taken for export. At our weekly sr.li 1 , helil this afternoon, we ottered a small catalogue of wool, principally remnants of the sea, on, which was taken by buyers freely at id per lb decline. Tallow. — none offered. Gr.iin. — Wheat continues in fair demand ; good to choice milling, 4s Gd to 4s 8d ; inferior, 4s 3d to 4s 4d. Oats are in better inquiry. New corn is selling for immediate delivery, Is 8J to Is 9J ; old, Is 10d to 2s. Barley, no sales reported. Mb. Skene reports for the week ending March 15. 1876, as follows : — The labor maiket is quiet, and will continue so till after the Kaee holidays. Masters will not make winter engagements, nor will servants make up their minds until then. Town work is healthy. Temples are veiy hard to move. Ploughmen and shepherds are quiet. Musons and carpenters aro busy. Hotel and house girls are scarcer than ever. Shopmen and clerks seldom asked for.
