Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). — 6th or 7th ultimo, from a railways wagon between Newmarket and Auckland, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), two Prest-O-Lite acid six-volt batteries, fifteen plate, type 6 S.B. 15, may be used in Chevrolet motor-cars of later models than 1937, and Ford V 8 motor-cars, Nos. 2537 and 2541, “ P.0.L.” on terminal, “ Prest-O-Lite ” on blue label on front of each ; total value, £lO 13s. Identifiable.

Auckland. 2lst or 22nd July last, from the fitting shop of the NEW ZEALAND GLUE CO., Neilson Street, Onehunga, a brass welding torch with “ General ” thereon, about 15 in. long, hexagon-shaped handle with valve block and two valves in centre, detachable stem, two hose-connec-tions at rear of handle, “W. 928 ” under valve block; a brass cutting torch, about 15 in. long, hexagon-shaped handle with two hose-connections at rear, valve block in one portion of handle and three valves in other, Minor thereon, “ ClOl3 ” under valve block ; a black metal highpressure oxygen regulator fitted with two gauges, valve and. hose-connection attached, “ 83/2556 ” thereon, made by British Oxygen Co., England ; a brass acetylene regulator fitted with two gauges one of which registers to 400 lb. and the other to 60 lb., “ A.R. 984 ” thereon, Comweld make; six brass welding tips; and two lengths of ? Auckland. —29th or 30th July last, from Waterloo Quadrant, the property of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA GOVERNMENT,' a Ford half-ton jeep, engine and serial No. 114112, painted olive drab colour, left-hand drive, 1945-46 license No. B.C. 19050, “ U.S.J.P.B. 179 ” painted on back and on each bumper, “ U.S.J.P.B. 150 ” showing through paint on each bumper; value, £4OO. Identifiable.

Auckland. On the 31st July last, the dwelling of ALISON LAURIE, 309 Mount Albert Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A Contessa Nettel folding camera, size 120, aluminium frame covered with black leatherette, German make, may have “ Cocarette ” on support for tripod on front, “C” and “ O ” on aluminium button which opens camera, in tan leather case, about 5 in. by 4 in. by in. with metal clip-fastener, short leather strap with “ Alison Laurie ” thereon ; a dark-brown skunk fur, about 36 in. long, one head and two tails, hook and cord-chain fastener, brown silk lining ; and £1 ss. in money ; total value, £l2 ss. Auckland. the Ist and 24th August last, a dwelling at 53 Upland Road, Remuera, the property of ADELAIDE REEDY, 1 Norana Avenue, Remuera, was broken into and the following stolen : A cream and gold coloured tea set with gold-coloured edging, floral design in centre, twenty pieces comprising cake plate, cups, saucers, plates, and sugar basin, “ Hammersley and Co., England,” and probably “ 1885 ” on each piece; six stainless-steel table knives with white handles; six heavily plated fish knives and; forks with ivory handles, in a box covered with black rexineand with cream-coloured lining : a set of carvers, knife, fork, and steel with dark bone handles, in dark case ; a cake knife and fork with white bone handles; a black Angora rug, 5 ft. by 3 ft.; a red Angora rug, 3 ft. by 2 ft.; and a blue fibrecane suitcase, about 36 in. by 24 in. by 12 in., two straps and locks; total value, £46. Auckland. —Between the 4th and 6th August last, from No. 18 shed, Queen Street Wharf, the property of the SHAW SAVILL AND ALBION CO., LTD., eight bolts (each 30£ yd.) of woollen dress material, 54 in. wide, four blue of different shades, one rust-brown, one pastel-pink, one mustard-yellow, and the other olive drab-green ; total value, £l7O 16s. Not identifiable. The case from which the property described was stolen was recovered from the harbour on 7th August last.

Auckland. —On the 13th or 14th August last, the dwelling of CLARA CONDON, 22 Pukehana Avenue, Epsom, was broken into and the following stolen: A five-valve Marconiphone dual-wave radio, bronze bakelite cabinet 9 in. by 7 in. by 5 in., round dial, three control knobs, 110 volts A.CI. with Mullard transformer for use on 230 volts; value, £lO. Auckland. —Between the 9th and 11th August last, the dwelling of AGNES ELLIOTT PFISTER, 16 Rawhitiroa Road, Kohimarama, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s silver wristlet watch (recovered); a giltcoloured metal trinket-case, 3 in. by 3 in. by 1 in., white velvet lining, “A. E. McK.” on plate on lid; a gold fine muff-chain, about 36 in. long, set with pearls, opals, and other stones, about 6 in. apart; a gentlemen’s gold pocket watch, probably Elgin make, white dial, black hands and numerals, repair mark “ A—” over “L ” ; a ladies’ rolledgold chased hunting watch, probably Waltham make, white dial, black hands and numerals; a ladies’ gold round wristlet watch, white dial with David Silk” or “ Silk ” thereon, black hands and Roman numerals, black cord wrist-band ; a gold engraved match box, three letters, one of which is “C ” or “S ” on lid ; an octagon-shaped blue and white enamel brooch, about size of a shilling; a black leather key case, two dome-fasteners, containing three suitcase keys; two English or Australian ss. pieces; two New Zealand Centennial Exhibition florins; and an English half-crown which was minted over a hundred years ago ; total value, £49 6s. 6d. Identifiable except money. The recovered watch was returned to complainant by post.

Auckland. —l3th or 14th August last, from a shed near a dwelling in the course of construction, 31 Lucern Road, Remuera, the property of GORDON LOUIS MARTINSON, 23 Adams Street, Remuera, a builder’s brass Dumpy level in shape of telescope, Starrett brand, type 99F, about 12 in. long and about 1 in. in diameter, adjusting wheel on right side, protractor attachment with pin originally attached to chain which is now broken; a Skelton spade, may have “ W.M.” thereon ; a long-handle shovel; a Skelton longhandle shovel; a Cheney claw hammer ; an adze; a Disston D 8 crosscut hand-saw,.seven teeth to inch; a Disston D 8 rip-saw, five teeth to inch, in duck canvas bag which has a hole in bottom, pocket for level at side, flap on top, and shoulder-strap; and a Coleman primus burner with brass container; total value, £25 2s. 6d. Auckland. —About the 17th August last, from the dwelling of VIVIAN JOHN PRIESTLEY SMITH, 67 Church Street, Onehunga, a ladies’ gold engagement ring, originally set with three large rubies in claw setting with two diamonds on each side of centre ruby, but one diamond is now missing ; value, £3O. Auckland. 2oth or 21st July last, from the dwelling of ETHEL MAY BERRY, 25 Kiwitea Street, Sandringham, a ladies’ 9 ct. gold round wristlet watch about size of a shilling, No. 1234, white dial, Arabic numerals, black hands, black silk wrist-strap, l in. wide with buckle-fastener; value, £B. Identifiable.

Auckland.— lsth or 16th ultimo, from the dwelling of GLORIA KOSTANICH, 68 Cook Street, a ladies’ chromiumplated round 15-jewel wristlet watch, brown dial, blue Arabic numerals, brown leather wrist-strap; value, £9. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by James Trevor Andres, age nineteen, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, who was boarding at above address until 18th ultimo. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland. —On the 19th August last, the dwelling of STELLA MAY GILLESPIE, 49 Edwin Street, Mount Eden, was broken into and the following stolen : Twelve lb. packets of tea, Choysa and Amber Tips brands; ss. in money; a chromium-plated cigarette-case, holds fifty cigarettes, “ J.S.” on outside, “ A present from the Auckland Hospital Kitchen staff ” on inside ; a jade-green and mottled Platignum Supreme fountain-pen, stainless-steel clp; a gentlemen’s light-fawn raincoat, H.B. brand, bone buttons, half lined with silk material, diagonal pockets, belt with leather buckle; two boxes of Rosa de Cuba cigars; * five pairs of gentlemen’s socks, three pairs steel-grey and the others blue; a brown fibrolite week-end case, about 20 in. by 15 in. by 6 in.; a gold old oval locket with hinge, 1| in. wide, “ Akes ” on front, probably satin lining with the name of a jeweller, Winnipeg, thereon, containing two photographs ; a triple string of graduated Richelieu pearls, largest pearl about -jl in. in diameter, silver square clasp with filigree work thereon ; and a Kienzle alarm clock, case 3 in. square, square white dial, luminous Arabic numerals, blue band at top, base 4 in. by 4 in. ; total value, £29 15s. August last, from the dwelling of MABEL VIOLET ALLSOPP, 18 Akepiro Street, a ladies’ chromium wristlet watch, about 1 £ in. by \ in., pearl-coloured dial, black hands and Arabic numerals, embossed near wrist-band, chromium fine mesh wrist-band; a brown speckled fountain-pen, gold nib and band, no clip; a graduated pearl necklace, about 16 in. long, brass clipfastener, largest pearl about f in. in diameter; a necklace of small seed pearls of equal size, about 16 in. long, clip broken ; a necklace of diamantes set in oval pieces of metal, about 16 in. long, ring-fastener; three pairs of clip-on ear-rings, about size of a threepence, blue, red, and green ; a small embossed brooch in shape of sunflower; an A.I.F. badge, pin at back; a large black brooch with silver band around centre and outside; two perspex R.A.A.F. badges, one red and the other clear with blue lettering thereon ; a small nickel-plated round locket with filigree work around it, containing photograph; and a brass brooch, painted purple and grey, swivel ring and safety pin attached ; total value, £l2 ss. fid. On the 23rd or 24th August last the dwelling of JESSIE BROWNLEE, 445 Remuera Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A set (six each) of fish knives and forks with white twisted handles, in light-coloured wooden case about 14 in. by 9 in. with plate on top ; a fish slice and fork, about 10 in. long, may have design on handle and on blade of slice ; six soup spoons in light-coloured wooden case (all E.P.N.S. or silver); a bottle of brandy; a bottle and a flask of Red Seal whisky ; total value, £8 15s. Auckland. 24th or 25th August last, from the dwelling of FRANCES MARY HAYMAN, 36 Great South Road, Remuera, a blue plush box, 3J in. square with raised top; a ladies’ gold oval bangle with hinge, may have safety-chain attached; a ladies’ gold bangle with hinge and safetychain, gold leaves interspaced with garnets or rubies and probably pearls thereon ; a gold round pendant, about 1-j in. in diameter, set with red stones, gold fine curb chain, about 16 in. long, with push-in clip, attached and a ladies’ silver round wristlet watch, about 1 in. in diameter, luminous hands and Arabic numerals, blue-grey wrist-strap; and some broken jewellery; total value, £lO 12s. 6d. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. —On the 25th August last, the dwelling of EDNA MAY TOOMER, 27 Wood Street, Ponsonby, was broken into and the following stolen : An engraved engagement ring, set with a cluster of nine diamonds each about size of pin’s head, platinum shoulders, has been made smaller ; a dress ring, set with three diamonds in claw setting and diamond chips ; an Auckland Savings Bank money-box in shape of book, containing about £6 in money ; an Auckland Savings-bank money-box, No. 3/7H59, in shape of book, containing about £4 in money; and £3 10s. in money; total value, £BB 10s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland.— On the 27th August last, the dwelling of LILLIAN MARTHA DOWNARD, 11 Ascot Avenue, Remuera, was broken into and the following stolen: A ladies’ gold dress ring, set with a turquoise, thin band ; a black leather purse of bag shape; a brown leather purse of envelope shape ; a standard size alarm clock, painted green ; a small nickel alarm clock, German make, similar to Baby Ben, black luminous dial and hands ; a green glass bedroom clock with round top; two two-cell nickel torches, one standard size, the other slightly smaller; three infants’ hand-knitted cardigans, pink, blue, and lemon, not sewn ; eight pairs of hand-knitted white woollen pilchers; an infant’s hand-knitted blue beret; four double cream-coloured blankets; three three-quarter cream-coloured blankets with J borders ; Ensign folding camera, size 120, in leather '■ - case which may have “F. S. Downard ”on flap; £53 15s. in money ; a ladies’ silver Swiss wristlet watch, grey leather wrist-strap ; and a leather -bag, 14 in. by 12 in.; total value, £77 14s. 9d. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. Between the 31st August last and 6th ultimo, from the storeroom of McKENDRICK BROS., LTD., Wellington Street, a | h.p. Hoover electric motor, No. 332236, 230 volts, 50 cycles ; and an electric soldering iron, about 10 in. long, flex and plug attached; ' total value, £7 4s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —On the Bth or 9th ultimo, the warehouse of G. C. GOODE AND CO., LTD., Wilkinson Road, Ellerslie, was broken into and the following stolen: A Rawlplug electric drill, about 12 in. long, painted red with chromium bands, pistol grip, bakelite handle, switch at side ; a rubber covered electric lead with two-way connections and adapter; a tack hammer, about 12 in. long, head T-shape at back, handle bound with cord and insulation tape a pair of pliers, 8 in. long ; and a steel Stanley smoother plane, about 9 in. long, “H. H. Bricknell ” on handle; total value, £ls 17s. 6d. Identifiable except pliers. Finger-impressions found on a piece of glass from a window in the warehouse have been preserved.

Auckland. Between the Bth and 10th ultimo, from a hangar at R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Whenuapai, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Air Department), a Major multi-test meter for testing amps, volts, and ohms, in black metal case 7-) in. by 6£ in. by 4 in. with crackle finish, calibrated dial with “ D. 5262-642 1942 10s/10610 ” thereon ; value, £29 6s. 3d. Identifiable.

Auckland. On the 10th ultimo, the warehouse of TYLERS LTD., Anzac Avenue, was broken into and the following stolen : A hand-made salmon-pink Indian carpet, 9 ft. by 10 ft. 6 in., green and blue floral pattern around edge, cream or white fringe at each end, “ 247 ” on manila tag ; four mohair oblong curly wool and jute floor-rugs, one 27 in. by 54 in. with manila tag attached, “427 ” thereon, and the others 30 in. by 60 in., with “ 428 ” on manila tag on each ; • total value, £59 ss. 9d. Identifiable.

Auckland. l2th ultimo, from a room in the Caledonia Hotel, Symonds Street, the property of ALEXANDER SMITH, 11 Collingwood Street, Ponsonby, and another, a gentlemen’s gold half-hunting pocket watch, white dial, black hands, black Roman numerals on case and dial, chromium ring on stem, “ Lance Corporal John McWhinnie, presented by Bannockburn Hero Fund, M.M., Croix de Guerre, 1919 ” on inside back case, value £3O ; and a gentlemen’s black silk scarf with white flowers thereon, 36 in. square; total value, £3l. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Two Men (names unknown) —(1) Age about thirtyeight, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, pale complexion, dark-brown hair, round features; wearing a grey sports coat with R.S.A. badge in lapel (no hat). (2) Age about thirty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, swarthy complexion, dark hair; wearing a blue suit (no hat). They were seen in a furnace-room near that from which the property was stolen about the time the offence was committed.

Campbell ”in ink across one corner; two pairs of gentlemen’s khaki woollen socks, “ G. 0.” on white tape thereon ; a gold-coloured brooch, about size of a half-crown, in shape of Scotch thistle, set with an amber stone as base of flower ; a round powder-compact, about 3| in. in diameter, upper portion covered with butterfly wings and lower portion silver-plated ; a quantity of Capstan cigarettes ; and two packets of Philip Morris cigarettes; total value, £44 10s. Auckland. 2nd instant, from a motor-truck in Hobson Street, the property of BOGOSLAV SOKOLICH, Fruitvale Road, New Lynn, a gentlemen’s grey tweed overcoat with black and white flecks, raglan style, half lined with darkgrey silk material, three buttons on front, oil-stain on bottom of left sleeve, “ Hugh Wright ”on tag ; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Auckland. About 17th August last, from the armoury at Mount Albert Grammar School, Alberton Avenue, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), two rifles (recovered); and two service rifles, Short Magazine Lee-Enfield pattern, known as -303 cum -22, made for indoor target practice with -22 calibre ammunition, one No. 1084, barrel No. 563, and the other No. 4402, barrel No. 10304; total value, £4O 11s. 4d. Identifiable. On above date the recovered rifles, which are similar to those described, were found on a rubbish tip near Old Mill Road, Westmere.

Between the 17th and 20th August last, from a tool-shed, Rawhiti Road, Ellerslie, the property of CHARLES THOMAS ROWE, 12 Goring Road, Mount Albert, a No. 5 Stanley plane, plated edge, handle broken; a German wooden jack plane, marked “C. T.
