PERSONS WANTED

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the ship “ Ruahine, Edward Ward, age twenty-five, height 6 ft., cook, native of England, slight build, pale complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; wearing a blue suit (no hat).

Auckland. —7th August last, that he be located and interviewed regarding alleged false pretences, John Godfrey McArthur, alias MacArthur, referred to in Police Gazette, 1944, page 610, and Photographs, 1929, page 30. On above date he obtained a cheque for £ls, No. Z. 881800, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, from Free Grant, care of Western Electric Co. (N.Z.), Ltd., 54 Brunswick Buildings by representing that he was in a position to supply him with a case of whisky which would be delivered the following day. Complainant has not received the whisky, The cheque was cashed at the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, on 7th August last, by a man who endorsed it “ J. McArthur. No warrant. <?///V 6

Auckland.— August last, for theft of the wristlet watch described below from the person of Raymond Leslie Wilson, 61 Sarsfield Street, Herne Bay, George Ryder (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., Maori, good build, dark complexion and hair; wearing a black overcoat and white silk scarf. At about 4pm on above date, complainant who was under the influence of liquor fell in Queen Street, and was assisted to his feet by the man described who stole the watch from his wrist. Description: A gentlemen’s chromium oblong Pip Top with curved sides, round coloured dial, luminous hands and numerals, “ R/RL/O ” and a date in July? H o, on inside back, gold expanding wrist-band about i in. wide ; value, £8 10s, Identifiable. No warrant. /

Auckland. lltli ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Margaret Thelma Hall, 131 Wellesley Street, Frederick Francis Hall, age about fifty-four, height about 5 ft. 9 in., carpenter, stout build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, blue eyes. He may be identical with a man of the same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 367. Arrears to 3rd August last, £312 16s. (See Police Gazette, 1938, P a ge 644.) ,3. // /^/

Auckland. —25th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Edith May Ryan, care of Mrs. Havill, Greenhithe, Albert Arthur William Ryan, age twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 41 in., painter, native of England, strong build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; usually wears a grey suit with red and blue pin stripes ; frequents hotels.

Putaruru.— August last, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for ten days on each in default of paying £l2 fines and costs for breaches of the Oil Fuel Emergency Regulations, Ernest James Duncan, age twentyone, height about 5 ft. 9 in., driver and labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; usually roughly dressed ; fond of liquor. Christchurch. 22nd August last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for two months in default of paying £149 10s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Edward Rycroft Wilding, referred to in Police Gazette, 1945, page 575, and Photographs, 1938, page 76. He may be released on payment of £3O.

Christchurch. 26th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months in default of paying £7l arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Stephen John McGilligan, age fifty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., motor-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair going bald, hazel eyes. Timaru. 2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for one month in default of paying £57 arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his five children in the care of the Education Department, John Edward Harding, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 1\ in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, hand holding papers on left wrist, crossed hearts on right wrist. He is identical with John Eric Harding, alias Eric John Harding, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 568, and Photographs, 1932, page 50, but his correct name is as shown above.
