APPREHENSIONS, PERSONS FOUND, ETC.

Devonport. — Leslie Arthur Warner, absent from Navy, has been arrested by the Avondale police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 179.)

Devonport.— Napier and Samuel Cowden, deserting Navy, have been arrested by the Naval authorities. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 275.)

Auckland.— Thomas Boyle Dennis, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1944, page 762): On 28th ultimo, the Court of Appeal varied the sentences of “ 6 months on each (cumulative) ” to “ 6 months on one charge to be cumulative upon sentence of 2 years,” and “ 6 months on 3 charges (concurrent),” so that the total' sentences are reduced from “ 4 years’ H.L.” to “2£ years’ H.L.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Auckland. Alan Nesbit, alias Alan William Dixon, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1945, page 64): On 28th ultimo, the Court of Appeal varied the sentence of “ 4 years’ H.L. and 1 year’s R.D.” to “ 3 years’ H.L.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Auckland. William Robert Court, alias Keith White, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1945, page 64): On 28th ultimo, the Court of Appeal varied the sentence of “3 years’ H.L. and 1 year’s R.D.” to “3 years’ R.D.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Auckland. John Thomas Hurst, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1945, page 64) : On 28th ultimo, the Court of Appeal varied the sentence of “ 2 years’ H.L. and 1 year’s R.D.” to “ 2 years’ H.L.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Auckland. — Arthur Thayer Close, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1945, page 66) : On 28th ultimo, the Court, of Appeal varied the sentences of “ 4 years’ H.L. and 3 year -5 R.D. on each ”to“ -3 years’ H.L.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Auckland. — Joseph Ratcliffe, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1945, page 65): On 28th ultimo the Court of Appeal varied the sentences of “ 3 months on each (cumulative and cumulative with other sentences) ” to “ 3 months on each (concurrent) ” so that the total sentences are reduced from “ 21 years ” to “ 2 years.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Auckland. — Richard Hau Wilson, breach of Air Force Act: Warrant cancelled. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 278.)

Auckland. — William Matthews, alias Whiu Matiu, default of fine : The warrant has been executed by the Hikurangi police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 127.)

Auckland.— Ray Purves, alias Raymond George Purves, theft, has been arrested by the Gisborne police, and he admitted the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 191.)

Auckland. Colin Norman Joseph Meale, breach of Air Force Act: Warrant cancelled. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 228.)

Auckland. — Ethel Zylpha McEntee, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Auckland police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 205.)

Auckland. — James Athol Phillips, absent from Navy, has been arrested by the Newton police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 209.)

Cambridge. — Eric James Rowe, assault, has been arrested by the New Plymouth police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 274.)

Patutahi. — J. Battie, theft, has been arrested by the Hastings police, and convicted of the offence. He is identical with John Beattie. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 191.)

Wairoa. — John Beattie, suspected of theft, has been arrested by the Hastings police, and convicted of the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 226.)

Wellington and Invercargill. — Ronald Mervyn John McKenzie, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1944, page 808, and 1945, page 106): His finger-impressions were taken at Wellington, and the letters “ F.P.” are to be inserted in the “ Distinguishing Marks ” column in Police Gazette, 1944, page 808, but he was not photographed, and the words Photo at Wellington, 13/10/44 ” are to be deleted from all copies of the Police Gazette at the references quoted.

Wellington. Edna Gertrude Zimmerman, alias Peggy McKinnon, failing to notify change of address, &c., has been arrested by the Christchurch police. (See Police Gazette, 1944, page 755.)

Wellington. Raymond George Purves, breach of probation, has been arrested by the Gisborne police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 191.)

Wellington. — George Finlay Hutton, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1945, page 291) : The date of trial “ 16/3/45 ” regarding the maintenance charge is incorrect, and should read “ 16/3/43.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Nelson. — Leo Spencer Davies, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Sumner police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 192.)

Blenheim. — William Alphonso Scully, absent from Air Force, has been arrested by the Oamaru police. (See Police Gazette, 1945, page 278.)

Christchurch.— Harry Samuel Richard David Hills, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Christchurch police. (See Police Gazette, 1942, page 406.)

Christchurch. —Harry Samuel Richard David Hills, failing to notify change of address, has been arrested by the Christchurch police. (See Police Gazette, 1943, page 127.)
