Whangarei. —Between the 15th December last and 3rd February, from a building in the High School grounds, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), two portable radio-sets, known as “ Walkie Talkie sets No. 48,” each in a case, 17 in. by 11 in. by 9 in., and consisting of a combined receiving and transmittingset, receiving-sets Nos. 155 and 1758, transmitting-sets Nos. 1469 and 1755, six valves in each set, the numbers of five receiving-valves are ILA 6, ILDS, ILDS, ILNS, and ILNS, and the numbers of four transmitting-valves arc ILDS, IASGT, 1299, and 1299, dials marked in megacycles, value £75 each ; and a telescope, 11 in. long and extends to 36 in., “ IV. R. & J. Beck, Ltd., London, 1915, No. 10386 ” on it, in leather case ; total value, £175. Identifiable. [ZbCffir'd.

Auckland. On the 25th or 26th ultimo, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell, was broken into, the safe opened by means of explosives, and the following, the property of the VESTRY OF ST. MARY’S CATHEDRAL, stolen : A 10 ct. gold chalice (photograph above), about 9 in. high and about 4 in. in diameter, hexagon-shaped base about 5 in. across, four red stones, probably imitation rubies, set in raised design on stem, fancy scroll-work on base and stem, may have “ Presented by St. Mary’s parishioners on occasion of Emerald Jubilee” on inside base; a 10 ct. gold paten, about 6 in. in diameter, to fit top of chalice ; two silver chalices, each about 10 in. high and 5 in. in diameter, base about 6 in. in diameter with six semi circles around it, long stem, chased design on them ; a silver paten with chased design on it, about 6 in. in diameter, to fit top of chalices ; a silver old chalice with chased design on it, about 5 in. high, small base and top, thin stem ; a silver paten about 3 in. in diameter to fit top of chalice ; a silver spoon about 6 in. long ; £76 9s. sd. in money, some in small envelopes, marked “ Cathedral Church of St. Mary, Parnell, Weekly Freewill Offering,” some in small red tins marked “ Cathedral Church of St. Mary,” and all contained in six linen bags about 6 in. by 9 in., marked “ St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell,” and “ 1d.,” “ 3d.,” “ 6d.,” “ 15.,” “ 25.,” and “ 2s. 6d.” respectively ; a cheque for £4, No. 087630, ’drawn on the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland, in favour of John Dawson, signed “ Dorothy Kemp,” and dated 22/3/45 ; a cheque for £l, No. 243345, drawn on the Bank of New South Wales, in favour of W. At the same time the following, the property of DEAN WILLIAM FANCOURT, was also stolen : A Queen Victoria Jubilee florin ; an old silver ss. piece ; ten silver Indian coins, in denominations of annas, minted about 1862 share certificates for one hundred and sixty-six Bank of New Zealand ordinary £1 shares, Nos. 1768681/780, 2631504/36, and 3171012/44, script No. 75/529 ; a share certificate for twenty Bank of New Zealand £1 “D” shares, Nos. 114006/25, script No. 75/96 ; a share certificate, No. 525588, for one hundred 10s. shares,-Nos. 163/301-400, in Rawang Tin Fields, Ltd.; a share certificate, No. 524981, for one hundred 10s. shares in Rawang Tin Fields, Ltd.; a share certificate, No. 15392, for thirty-five £5 Union Bank of Australia, Ltd. shares; two parchment ordination certificates, one for deacon, and the other for priest, in complainant’s name, and signed by the Bishop of Liverpool, England ; total value, £466. Identifiable except money. On the 27th ultimo four of the linen bags marked 1d.,” 3d.,” 15.,” and “ 25.,” and two of the red tins were found in the Domain.

Auckland. Between August last and 23rd December, a dwelling at Anawhata, the property of JUANITA RUBY FORGIE, 116 Benson Road, Remuera, was broken into and the following stolen : A red and green travelling rug with tassels, twill finish ; a red and green travelling rug of cashmere weave ; a brown travelling rug with white flecks; fifteen blue and blue-grey single blankets, some torn; a Victrola portable gramophone ; twelve each of white bread and butter and dinner plates, and white soup dishes ; twelve glass tumblers; six dessert plates; three white breakfast cups with black line at top; a three-pint glass jug ; three one-quart milk jugs, one barrel and one bowl-shaped ; two glass sugar bowls with lids, scalloped sides; twenty each of stainless steel table and dessert knives with white handles ; twenty each of dinner and dessert forks; six table spoons; twenty dessert spoons; ten teaspoons ; al4 in. steel with horn handle; a stainless-carving knife and a carving fork with white handles; a bread knife with dark-brown wooden handle; thirty white cotton sheets, single and three-quarter sizes, some have “ Anawhata ”on one corner twenty-four bath towels of various colours; a nickel-plated alarm clock, white dial, Arabic numerals; a quantity of tinned fruit, spaghetti, tomatoes, &c. ; an American service rifle; a -303 calibre Japanese rifle, Japanese characters on white calico sling attachments; and sixty rounds of -303 calibre F.A. 36-ammunition ; total value, £56 12s. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. Between December last and 19th February, from bath-rooms in the R.N.Z.A.F. Depot, Market Road, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Air Department), three •] h.p. electric motors, two Hoover make and the other Delco ; total value, £ls. Not identifiable.

Auckland. —11th or 12th January last, from a room in Wellesley Boardinghouse, the property of HANNAH FRANCES FULLER, 5 Thorton Road, Cambridge, a ladies’ gold round wristlet watch, white dial, black hands, and Arabic numerals, “ N.P.” on back, gold expanding wrist-band with broken chain attached; value £5. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Olive May Eaglesham, referred to in Police Gazette, 1945, page 21, and Photographs, page 18, who occupied a room next to that of complainant when the offence was committed. She has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland. 28th January last and 2nd February, from the chemistry department, Auckland University, the property of ROBERT ANTHONY ROBINSON, 8 Kipling Avenue, Sandringham, a grey fibre-cane suit-case, about 30 in. by 20 in. by 8 in., “ R.A.R., Auckland University College ” on it; a gentlemen’s black dress suit, fit man 6 ft., “ Austin Reids, England ” on tag, white braces on trousers ; three white dress shirts, 14. - in. neck, may have laundry mark “ 224 A ” on them ; and some shirts and pairs of socks with laundry mark “ 22A ” on them ; total value, £26. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. —On the 2nd February last, the dwelling of FREDERICK ANGUS McNEIL, 42 Picton Street, Ponsonby, was broken into and the following stolen : A tan leather brief-bag, about 16 in. by 10 in. by 8 in., “ F. McN.” on it, cut about 6 in. long in one corner; a Parker fountain-pen, green with gold band around cap, 14 ct. gold nib ; a black Conway Stewart fountain-pen, model 480, gold clip and nib ; a tie with light and dark blue stripes; a mottled grey and white Eversharp propelling pencil; a gentlemen’s light-blue Summit shirt with brown stripes, sizo 5, collar attached ; and a white tie with light- stripes; total value, £9 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Auckland. 2nd February last, from the dwelling of NANCY MAY DAVIES, 88 Moa Road, Point Chevalier, £5 in money; and an Auckland Savings-bank money-box, serial No. 3/4884; total value, £5 2s. 6d. Money-box identifiable. The offence may have been committed by a Man (name unknown), age about nineteen, height 5 ft. 8 in., strong build, fresh complexion, wavy fair hair ; well spoken; wearing a green sports coat or blazer, and dark grey or fawn sports trousers (no hat). He was seen at the rear of complainant’s dwelling about the time the offence was committed, and is believed to have committed other similar offences in the city.

Auckland.- -Between the 3rd and 9th February last, from a store in Halsey Street, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Ministry of Supply Department), two \ h.p. Crompton Parkinson electric motors, serial Nos. 6909 and 6342 ; total value, £26 2s. 2d. Identifiable.

Auckland. Bth or 9th February last, from the dwelling of AMY DOUBLEDAY, 21 Heather Street, Parnell, a gentlemen’s hat, coat, and overcoat (recovered); a gentlemen’s silver Waltham hunting watch, white dial, Roman numerals, gold-coloured hands, dent in edge of case, silver double chain and silver match case with “ R.C.A.” and date, probably 1910 on it, attached ; a gentlemen’s rolled-gold Swiss hunting watch, chased design on case, white dial, steelblue Arabic numerals ; two khaki bakelite right-angle electric torches, American Army type, belt-clip attached, fitted with Rayovac batteries; a brown leather American bill-fold wallet, “ Genuine Leather ” in gold-coloured letters above one inside pocket; a brown leather purse, about 5 in. by 2£ in., concertina type, four compartments ; £6 10s. in money ; and a Queen Victoria Jubilee ss. piece, minted in 1888, which has made impression on leather of wallet; total value, £35 ss. Identifiable except money. The recovered property was found outside complainant’s dwelling on 9th February last.

Auckland. 2sth or 26th February last, from a room at 87 Beresford Street, the property of WILLIAM TOMURI, a gentlemen’s silver square Stylex wristlet watch, silver chain wrist-band ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —On the Ist ultimo, the dwelling of CLINTON BRADLEY RIVERS, 65 Market Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A Sheaffer’s Lifetime fountain-pen with grey and black stripes, white gold band and pocket clip, “ Clinton Rivers ”on it; a yellow soft pigskin travellingbag, about 22 in. by 12 in., brown cloth lining, leather handle, brass eyelets at top with leather strap threaded through them ; four cartons, each containing two hundred Camel cigarettes; two pairs of fully-fashioned rayon stockings, size 10 in. ; and two American dollar bills; total value, £lO 4s. 2d. Portion identifiable.

Hamilton. —lst ultimo, from a motor-car in Victoria Street, the property of MAURICE HUIA TOMBS, 3 Clarence Street, a large gaberdine overcoat with raglan sleeves, two buttons missing, no belt; and a Kodak folding camera covered with black leatherette, a piece of which is missing from one end, size 116, about 7 in. by 3£ in., “ M. Tombs ” scratched on metal at one end, purchased about 1925; total value, £ls. Identifiable.

Identifiable.

Palmerston North. — 2oth February last, from the river- near The Esplanade, the property of MONTAGUE ARTHUR ONGLEY, 25 Ake Ake Avenue, a gentlemen’s chromium square cushion-shaped Swiss wristlet watch, round white dial with “ Helvetia ” thereon, black hands and Arabic numerals, repair No. 08891 on inside back case, seconds-hand, brown leather wrist-strap ; a pair of gentlemen’s tan heavy shoes, size 6|, Army officer’s issue; a pair of white locknit panties, W. size ; a vest and pink locknit petticoat with opera top, fit girl age four ; a pair of white Canterbury locknit underpants ; and a pair of gentlemen’s khaki heavy socks with blue wool stitched at top ; total value, £lO 17s. 9d. Identifiable except underpants and socks. '

Wellington. — On the 30th or 31st January last, the shop of .DELMONTE AND PATIENCE, LTD., jewellers, 64 Manners Street, was broken into and the following stolen : An 18 ct. gold engraved wedding ring with flat top ; a 15 ct. gold wedding ring, about in. wide ; a 9 ct. gold signet ring, heart-shaped top with fancy engraving and “ P.F.” thereon ; a ladies’ rolled-gold oblong Titan wristlet watch, 5J ligne, pink dial with thick glass, gold-coloured numerals, red leather wriststrap ; a 9 ct. gold round locket, in. in diameter ; a child’s fancy bangle of 9 ct. gold twisted wire ; a beige-coloured imitation pigskin handbag of envelope shape, 17 in. by 8 in., small pocket inside, containing small purse; six cases Sin. by 5 in., some mottled blue, the others mottled brown, each containing six teaspoons with embossed strip across handles; two black cases with blue and white edges, 12£ in. by 6£ in. by 8 in., each containing six fruit spoons with facetted bowls, six fruit forks, and a server (all have embossed strip across handles) ; six mottled-blue cases, 9 in. by 7 in., each containing six fruit spoons and forks with server, embossed strip across handles ; and twenty-four E.P.N.S. table forks, Astor brand ; total value, £23 Is. Identifiable. Complainant either lost the watch in the city or it was stolen from a dwelling at 3 Wai-Te-Ata Road.

Timaru. —Between December last and Bth February, from a store in Woolcombe Street, the property of the SOUTH CANTERBURY ELECTRIC POWER BOARD, a 475 by 16 Michelin motor-tire, serial No. CEXI2IIBI ; and two 450 by 17 Goodyear motor-tires, serial Nos. Q6295E196 and 33E32196 respectively ; total value, £9 10s. Identifiable.

Dunedin. —17th February last, from Cambria Place, the property of ANNETTE BURBIDGE, 303 King Street, and another, two trunks containing a quantity of ladies’ clothing, &c. (recovered) ; a three-quarter length brown marmot fur coat with stripes, brown lining, small round collar, one covered button above two plain buttons ; a grey single blanket with red stripes; two towels, one yellow and the other white, American material a pillow-case with “ Burbidge ” thereon; two pieces (each about 3syd.) of costume material, dark and light blue with red stripes ; a yellow pullover with long sleeves ; a tan cardigan ; a darkbrown cardigan ; upper portion of a dark- blue knitted suit ; four pairs of pink knickers ; 5 yd. of silk dress material with floral pattern ; a pair of white locknit panties ; a pair of hand-made dark-brown suede gloves, size 6|-; a string of Richelieu pearls, medium size; a silver link necklace with pendant of rubies ; a hand-made brass bracelet with fretwork pattern ; and a paua-shell bracelet ; total value, £9B.
