Auckland. 23rd July last, from the dwelling of DAISY TE AKAU, 11 Ruskin Street, Parnell, a ladies’ 15 ct. or 18 ct. gold heavy dress ring, set with a large oval green stone about \ in. wide, “N. W. Mangoroa ” on inside band; value, £3O. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 23rd July last and 13th ultimo, from a cottage at Karaka Beach, Glendowie, the property of DOROTHY MARY BAMPTON, 7 William Deny Avenue, a five-valve Seven Seas table model broadcast radio, wooden cabinet, 16 in. by 12 in. by 12-in., hexagon-shaped dial; and a grey rug with blue stripes total value, £l6 10s. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by G. Jackson (names’-probably fictitious), age about thirty-one, height about 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, sallow complexion, bushy fair hair; wearing a dark-grey suit and black boots or shoes (no hat). He was seen in the locality, and he may be identical with Darrell Hope Barnaby, alias Henry Ernest Sterling, referred to in Police Gazette, 1944, page 64, and Photographs, 1928, page 29. , WU&n/uwm Auckland. Auckland.— About Bth May last, from behind the counter in the confectionery shop of ADELAIDE NEVILLE, Ferry Buildings, Quay Street, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with a large diamond in centre, surrounded with a cluster of eight smaller diamonds in platinum millgrain setting, diamond near outside of band is triangular in shape with apex pointing along band; value, £SO. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Albert Theodore Simpson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1944, page 708, who was assisting complainantin the shop. The latter handed him some money on above date to make some purchases for her, but he failed to return. He has been convicted of stealing the money, and has been interviewed regarding the theft of the ring, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland. —29th May last, from the dwelling of Dr. FREDERICK WILLIAM GORDON, Orere Point, near Kawakawa Bay, a silver ash-tray, 4 in. in diameter, “ F.W.G.” on it; a three-valve H.M.V. battery radio, blue rexine cabinet 24 in. by 12 in. by 12 in., one large and two small batteries ; four Tally Ho table knives and four I.X.L. dessert knives each made by Wostenholm and Sons, Sheffield, England ; eight dessert spoons ; eight dessert forks ; and four teaspoons, some Walker and Hall make ; a surgeon’s amputating knife about 12 in. long, about 1 in. missing from point, silver handle; a bread-knife with wooden handle; a buff-coloured seagrass chair with arm-rests; four each of Waterspray sheets, pillow-cases, towels, tea-towels, and hand-sewn serviettes; a green single kapok mattress, 20 in. wide, rolled edge at each end; a rose-coloured single kapok mattress 36 in. wide; twelve tins of meat, fruit, condensed milk, coffee, and cocoa; and nineteen jars of home-male jam ; total value, £3l 4s. Portion identifiable. The offender or offenders set some bedding on fire in the sitting-room and kitchen, and the dwelling and contents were damaged to the extent of about £IOO. Auckland. — 14th ultimo, from the dwelling of CHRISTINA ANNETTE SECCOMBE, 30 Warnock Street, Westmere, a -22 calibre Winchester single-shot rifle, model 1904, serial No. 28 ; a gold heart-shaped locket about 1 in. wide with “ C.A.S.” on one side and “ C.M.R.” on other side ; a ladies’ silver round Swiss wristlet watch, gold-coloured dial with small circles around numerals; three packets of cigarettes; and two bottles of brandy ; total value, £ll 12s. Portion identifiable.

Ellerslie. —Bth July last, from a caravan at Bray’s Quarry, Penrose Road, the property of PERCIVAL THOMAS WRIGHT BLOWS, and another, a gentlemen’s silver oblong Tip Top wristlet watch with white dial, “ S. Knox, 28th L.A.D.” on outside back; and eight packets of Black and White tobacco ; total value, £8 17s. Watch identifiable.

Ngaruawahia. l9th or 20th ultimo, from a motor-car in a garage at the Waingaro Hotel, the property of CARL ROYDON McDERMOTT, 5 Myrtle Street, Hamilton, a black Leica camera, standard model, f .3-5 non-interchangeable Leitz Elmar lens, focusing 1-5 ft. to infinity, no rangefinder, washer below lens broken, “ Knowles Camera House, Auckland ” on base plate, complainant’s name scratched on base plate and on inside brass shell of cassette which contained short length of 35 mm. film ; value, £25. Identifiable.

CAMBRIDGE GOLF CLUB, heaters, &c., stolen (see Police Gazette, 1944, page 611): The photograph of Richard Sullivan, alias John McKenzie, alias John Davis, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 909, and Photographs, 1937, page 38, has been identified as one of Three Men who stayed at 42 London Street, on the night of 3rd ultimo, and \\ ho were in possession of similar property to that stolen from the clubhouse. On the 4th ultimo the men removed the property in a motor-lorry from London Street to a hut at 10 Greenwood Street, Frankton Junction, which had been rented by a man who gave the name “ Davis,” but they left there the following night. Ono of the other two men is described as age about forty-seven, height about 6 ft., good build, auburn hair ; wearing a light tweed overcoat (no hat).
