Arson Auckland.— about 5 p.m. on 29th May last, a sixroomed cottage and its contents at Orere Point, near Papakura, were completely destroyed by fire. There is no evidence of any person having been seen in the locality about the time, and an examination failed to disclose the cause of the fire. The cottage, which was owned by ERNEST ALFRED GItINROD, Goodall Street, Hillsborough, was valued at £1,300, and insured for £550. The contents were valued at £2OO, but were uninsured. About the same time an adjacent cottage, the property of Dr. FREDERICK WILLIAM GORDON, was broken into and also set on fire, and the articles, referred to in “ Property Stolen ” this issue, stolen. The fire apparently burnt itself out after damaging the dwelling and contents to the extent of about £IOO. Any Information that may assist in the investigation is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland.
