On the 11 th January last he left the farm accompanied by complainant’s wife, and on the following day he is alleged to have returned to the farm, entered the dwelling by breaking a window, and stolen the property described. Palmerston North. 2lst ultimo, for theft of a grey suit and a navy-blue costume (recovered), value £5 10s., the property of Annie Ivy Kreft, second-hand dealer, 213 Cuba Street, William Holmes, alias W. Sulty (names probably fictitious), age about fifty-two, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair turning grey, largo nose, dirty teeth ; dressed in a green sports coat with large checks, fawn pepper-and-salt saddle-tweed trousers, and fawn felt hat; carrying a light-brown or fawn overcoat with checks. The suit and costume were stolen from complainant’s shop on above date, and later the same day the costume was sold to a second-hand dealer and the suit to another second-hand dealer for 103. each by the man described who gave the names “ William Holmes ” and W. Sulty ” respectively. On 16th ultimo he was seen examining some suits'in complainant’s shop. The photograph of William Henry Homes, referred to in Police Gazette, 1943, page 733, and Photographs, 1937, page 61, has been identified as that of a man who attempted to sell the costume to another dealer on 21st ultimo. Christchurch. —18th February last, for indecently assaulting Clarice Miller Faigan, W.A.A.F., Southern Group Headquarters, Cashmere, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, dark hair; dressed in a dark suit (no hat); in possession of a bicycle. He committed the offence while complainant was walking along Cashmere Road at 9.30 p.m. on above date, and during the assault he received injuries to his face or hands caused by a bottle which complainant was carrying. No warrant.
