Auckland. llth May last, for false pretences, Woman (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 9 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, artificial complexion, auburn hair; dressed in a black and fawn check coat of costume type, light-fawn skirt, emerald-green blouse in the centre of which was a diamante brooch in form of four coloured flags, and a black felt hat with emerald-green feather on right side; pleasant appearance. Sometimes she was accompanied by a girl, age about three and a half. On above date she obtained goods, value £5 13s. 6d., from George Court and Sons, Ltd., by falsely representing that she was Mrs. A. Laurie, 27 Fernglen Road, St. Heliers Bay, who had an account with complainant firm, and she signed a docket for the goods A. Laurie.” On the 12th, 13th, and 17th May she obtained goods, value £26 18s., £3 11s. ad., and £3 13s. 6d., respectively from the same firm by similar representations, but on the latter occasion she left the goods in the shop and disappeared when requested to call at the firm’s office. They are to be charged jointly as follows : On the 12th day of April, 1943, at Christchurch, having the custody of a male child under the age of fourteen years, to wit, Albert Charles Wheeler, born on the 25th day of February, 1942, did abandon such child in a manner likely to cause such child unnecessary suffering.
