Whangarei. —Between the Bth and 17th February last, from a hut in Maungatapere Camp, the property of the ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a •38 calibre six-chambered Smith and Wesson revolver, No. N.Z. 2990 ; value, £7 15s. Identifiable.
Auckland. —Between the Ist November last and 2nd December, from a room in a boardinghouse at 13 Prosford Street, Ponsonby, the property of LOUISA CLEWS, proprietress, a small gold old round watch which has been converted into a wristlet watch, Arabic numerals, “ Louisa Wilkinson ” on back, black ribbon wrist-strap with gold snap-fastener ; and a gold bar brooch, 3 in. by \ in., “ L.W.” on front, small gold nugget on centre ; total value, £l2. Identifiable.
Auckland. —13th February last, from a haversack in a train between Auckland and Papakura, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a •38 calibre Smith and Wesson revolver, No. 1294; value, £7 10a. 7d. Auckland. — 19th'February last, from the dwelling of ISOBEL WERETA WILLIAMSON, 44 Sainsbury Road, Mount Albert, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring set with two diamonds in filigree platinum setting ; value, £35. Identifiable.
Auckland. — Between the 24th and 31st December last, the dwelling of WILLIAM RICHARD GOLDSWORTHY, 443 Queen Street, Onehunga, was broken into and the following stolen: A five-valve A.C. mantel-type Crusader radio, 1936 model, No. 22187, dark oak cabinet, about 17 in. by 14 in. by 6 in., round dial, three tuning-knobs ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Auckland. lßth or 19th February last, from a luggage-rack on the Limited Express between Wellington and Auckland, the property of DORIS TODD, 180 Taranaki Street, Wellington, a brown fibre suit-case, about 36 in. by 14 in. by 10 in., containing a silver fox fur cape, lined with black satin; a black English worsted coat and vest costume with white stripes, black silk lining; a fawn-coloured crepe frock, short sleeves, flared skirt, brown velvet flowers on belt; a black frock, velvet top, crepe skirt, long sleeves; a black crepe frock, flared skirt, short sleeves; a black crepe costume, pleated skirt, waistcoat with white embroidery, long black velvet sleeves; a blue georgette nightdress, trimmed with white lace, gathered at waist; a pink satin nightdress ; a green linen play-suit ; a black uncrushable crepe two-piece evening frock, white flowers on one side ; a black bolero coat with short sleeves and white embroidery ; a pink satin under-set; a white georgette under-set; and two pairs of Sun Tan silk stockings ; total value, £B9 11s. Mostly identifiable.
Auckland. — On the 13th February last, the dwelling of WILLIAM WILLIAMS, Alverstone Flats, Parliament Street, was broken into and the following stolen : £22 15s. in money ; a cheque for £2 55., No. X. 711569, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, in favour of Alverstone Flats, signed “ Elaine Braik,” and dated 10th February, 1943 ; and a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold hunting Waltham watch, Roman numerals and black hands ; total value, £45. Identifiable except money.
Hastings. —4th April, 1942, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -303 calibre Short Magazine Lee-Enfield rifle, No. 1875 on barrel, “-506 ” stamped in butt; value, £2. About November last, from the Quartermaster’s store, Tawa Street, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), three prismatic compasses, each set in brass case about 2 in. in diameter with metal cover on outside, Nos. 5485, 12973 and 14260 respectively ; total value, £27. Identifiable.
Palmerston North. —Betweon the 10th October last and 19th February, from the motor-camp, The Esplanade, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), two -38 calibre six-chambered Smith and Wesson revolvers, numbered 542 and 549 respectively; value, about £4 each. Identifiable.
Wellington. Between the Ist and 9th February last, from a strongroom in WOOLWORTHS (N.Z.), LTD., Cuba Street, a black Reflex Korelle camera, model 11, scratches on edge, self-timing apparatus not in working order, takes photographs 2\ in. by 2J in., contained in bright-tan leather case with red velvet lining, dome-fastener, space in front for lens ; and a Gelb filter ; total value, £37 7s. 6d. Identifiable.
Christchurch. Between the 7th and 10th January last, the dwelling of CHARLES RICHARD EMERSON, 264 Yaldhurst Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s black Hercules bicycle with Butler transfers, Nos. 2296 and 8536 A, value £l4 155.: a nickel-plated openface stop-watch with snap-on back ; and a silver hunting split-second stop-watch with white dial; total value, £2l ss.
