Auckland.— January last, on warrant for soiling liquor without a license, Clifford James Ward, alias Graham, age about forty, height 5 ft 7 in., labourer and wharf labourer, strong build, dark hair and eyes. He may be accompanied by a man named Bryant.^^^^^*^*

Palmerston North. —6th January last, for attempted rape on Mabel Olive Eillingham, waitress, 354 Ferguson Street, Man (name unknown). About 3 a.m. on above date, the offender entered complainant’s bedroom at the above address, assaulted her, and attempted to rape her. About midnight on 21st February last, complainant was awakened to see a man entering through her bedroom window. He is of the following description : Age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., good build, dark curly hair ; wearing a grey check coat, dark trousers (no hat.)

Joiinsonville. For escaping from Porirua Mental Hospital on the 27th ultimo, Cyril Potter, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7£ in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, sallow complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, natural teeth, scar on right side of body and on abdomen ; wearing a brown tweed coat, brown cotton trousers, and black slippers (no hat); slightly stooped ; quick gait. He was wearing a dirty-blue raincoat, grey trousers, black shoes, and blue felt hat. While being escorted from Wanganui to Wellington Prison he broke away from his escort in' the police yard. ?

Grant, age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 11 in., thin build, fresh complexion, dark hair going bald ; dressed in a blue sports coat with stripes or checks, dark-grey trousers, and grey felt hat, and sometimes wears horn-rimmed glasses ; well spoken. He obtained £2 in money from Grace Coatsworth, 8 Borthwick Street, by falsely representing that a preparation (naphthalene) which he sold her would exterminate borer in complainant’s house. The photograph of Harold Richardson Kerr, referred to in Police Gazette, 1943, page 35, and Photographs, 1937, page 34, has been identified as that of offender. No warrant.
