Kawakawa. 3lst August last, on warrant of commitment to Taumarunui Prison for seven days in default of paying £5 11s. balance of fine and restitution for theft, Jonah or Joseph Wiki, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 468, and Photographs, 1937, page 52. • Auckland. —That he be located and interviewed regarding his financial position for the purpose of obtaining payment of £44 11s. 6d. balance of costs owing to the Department of Internal Affairs for the passage of his wife and children from England to New Zealand, Hugh Johnston, age about sixty, height 5 ft. 11 in., native of England, bushman and sawmill hand. . . . . Auckland. —25th July last, for theft of £5, the property of Maurice Att-Gambill, a member of an armed force, Stanley George Gibb, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, brown hair going bald, blue eyes, scar on inside of right ring and little fingers, and on back of left forefinger. He is identical with a man of the same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 254, and Photographs, 1929, page 56. He was with the complainant at a trotting meeting at Alexandra Park and was handed a £5 note by the complainant to cash at the change counter, but he failed to return. No warrant. £ J ’ y-J-

Auckland. 3oth July last, on warrant for failing to report to the Army for medical examination when notified so to do, Francis John Rhind, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 495, and Photographs, 1932, page 20. He left this Dominion on the 10th June last as a member of the crew of the ship “ Empire Waimana.”

Auckland. 23rd ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to maintain his wife, Elsie Maria Ellerm, 11 Tawari Street, Mount Eden, Edward Albert Ellerm, age forty-eight, height 6 ft., newspaper employee, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; wearing a dark overcoat, dark suit, and usually a dark hat ; slightly corpulent; feet turned outwards. His correct name is believed to be William George Sampson. He is also to be interviewed regarding the theft of linotype metal.

Auckland. — 24th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for six days in default of paying witnesses’ expenses and costs totalling £3 7s. 2d. for driving a motorlorry without due care and attention, Trevor Desmond Kerr, age twenty ; wearing military uniform.

Napier. — 3oth ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and four children, Carl Mafeking Hertz, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 226, and Photographs, 1925, page 19. Arrears to 21st April last, £345 17s, 9d,

Palmerston North. —21st ultimo, for false pretences T. E. Burgess, age about fifty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; wearing a brown overcoat, light-grey suit, and light-coloured felt hat. He obtained £6 from William Quirk, licensee, Hotel Majestic, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount, No. F. 209683, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Palmerston North, and signed “ T. E. Burgess.” The cheque is from a cheque-book, No. F. 209665-689, which was issued by the Bank of New Zealand, Palmerston North, when an account was opened on the 11th ultimo. Several valueless cheques have since been issued on this account. The photographs of Henry Lorraine Scott, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 788, and Photographs, 1938, page 83, have been identified by the complainant as that of the offender. No warrant. w

Donald Glasgow Bicknell. Palmerson North. For escaping from the Porirua Mental Hospital on the 7th ultimo, Donald Glasgow Bicknell, age nineteen, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes, freckles on face and arms ; wearing (institution clothing marked “M2” or “M 5”) a grey tweed coat and trousers and heavy black boots: He is considered dangerous as he may violently assault unprotected women. Wellington. —For escaping from Point Halswell Borstal Institution on the 23rd ultimo, Nola O’Rourke, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 4 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes ; wearing a blue dress, black shoes and stockings.

Wellington. —9th July last, on warrant to apprehend for failing to maintain his wife, Hylda Edith Savage, and child, Ernest Burke Savage, age thirty-five, height 5 ff . 10 in., clerk, native of Eire, medium build, brown hair, blue eyes, round shoulders, lump on right shoulder; usually wears a navy-blue suit.

Wellington. —About 23rd July last, on warrant for failing to report for service with the armed forces when notified so to do, Llewelyn Valentine Price, age thirty, short, seaman and steward. ... .

Greymouth. 22nd ultimo, on warrant for failing to report for service with the armed forces when notified so to do, Eugene O’Sullivan, age about thirty-five, height 6 ft. 1 in., miner and labourer, native of Eire, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, fond of liquor.
