PROPERTY STOLEN.

Whangarei. On the 30th or 31st August last, the shop of BEG. WHARFE (WHANGAREI), LTD., motor-wreckers, 48 Water Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A cheque for £l2 Bs. (recovered); and £2 in money. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 4 in., medium build, dark hair; dressed in battledress and glengarry cap. He tendered the cheque to Jung Toe Foy, fruiterer, at 9.30 a.m. on the 31st August last, in payment of twelve cases of apples and received £4 9s. in change. He did not take delivery of the apples.

Auckland. — Between the 19th October last and 15th August, the property of LOUISE LLOYD-JONES, 4 O’Neills Avenue, Takapuna, a platinum chain bracelet with diamonds set in platinum box settings, about 6 J in. long, f- in. links, concealed clip-fastener; value, £3OO. Identifiable. It may have been stolen while complainant was travelling from Sydney (Australia) to Auckland in October last or since from various places in which she has resided in the locality of Takapuna.

Auckland.— On the 31st July last, the dwelling of PHYLLIS LOUISE NETTLETON, 8 Buchanan Street, Devonport, was broken into and the following property stolen : A ladies’ necklet of cream-coloured pearls ; a ladies’ gold curb chain with small gold padlock and safety-chain ; 15s. 6d. in money; a ladies’ gold brooch, set with turquoise representing the Southern Cross; a ladies’ gold signet ring with “ M.M.E.” engraved on it; a ladies’ gold narrow band ring, turquoise with black markings in claw setting ; a ladies’ glass pendent watch in form of crystal ball, 1 in. diameter, silver band down centre of sides, attached with black cord to silver brooch; a ladies’ gold bar brooch, representation of a rabbit in centre, clip fastener; and a ladies’ gold bar brooch, diamond in centre and seed pearl at each end ; total value, £42 ss. 6d. Identifiable except money.

Auckland.— 3lst August last, from the dwelling of VIOLET MILLS, 14 Glenfell Road, Epsom, a gentlemen’s silver Swiss open-face watch, black Roman numerals, white dial with “ Peck ” on it, “ W. H. Mills ” engraved inside back case; a string of graduated pearls fastened with a diamond-shape diamante clasp ; and £1 9s. in money ; total value, £6 14s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. lst ultimo, from the dwelling of ELLEN ROBERTSON, 147 Mountain Road, Epsom, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold Craven wristlet watch, octagon shape, round dial about the size of a shilling, Arabic numerals, black ribbonwith gold snap-fastener, probably No. 129651; a gentlemen’s gold oblong Omega wristlet watch, white dial, black numerals, “ E.H.S.” in scroll inside back case; a gold heart-shape locket with small amethyst set in top, and photograph of man in it, attached to heavy gold twisted chain; an old fashioned gold bracelet, hollow and pitted, “Nellie Grayden ” in scroll engraved on it; an 18 ct. gold watch fob, in four sections three of which are flat oval shape with settings for a stone in each, but the stones are missing, the fourth section has “ W.-J.R.” engraved on it; a heavy 18 ct. gold ring, originally had three rubies set in it, but two are missing; and 10s. in money; total value, £4O 10s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. —Between the 9th and 16th July last, from the Cornwall Park School, the property of the CORNWALL PARK SCHOOL COMMITTEE, a 16 mm. Kodascope film projector, model E.E., 18 in by 14in., serial No. 64107, and transformer in metal case 9 in. by 7 in.; value, £4O. Identifiable.

Auckland. —Between 17th and 21st August last, while in transit in a railway-truck between Wellington and Auckland, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), six pairs of black-covered prismatic binoculars about 8 in. long, No. 5, mark 2, and broad arrow thereon, made by Ross, London, five of the numbers are probably 23547, 23503, 23492, 23533, 23505 ; and a brown leather binocular case about 91 in. by 71 in,, by 3J in., green lining, strap about 66 in. long attached, one of the abovementioned numbers on outside case; total value, £lßl 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. On the 24th or 25th ultimo, the shop of the AUCKLAND MEAT CO., 893 New North Road, was broken into, the safe opened by means of explosives, and the following stolen : Two £5 notes, Nos. 3K 821684 and I over X 065131; eight £1 notes, Nos. 7C 650888, 9C 447288, 9C 019159, 3L 859806, 3L 930718, 5L614656, 5L 687847, 5L 917952; £l2 17s. 4d. in cash ; and a dark-brown kit-bag about 12 in. long, brown cloth lining with two pockets in it, leather handle, half stirrup catches at ends, “R. Sadgrove ” on lining ; total value, £32 7s. 4d. Identifiable except cash.

Auckland. — On the 17th ultimo, the dwelling of EFPIE McLEOD, 7 Gladwin Road, Epsom, was broken into and the following property stolen: A ladies’ 18 ct. gold band dress ring with an oval opal about £ in. in diameter in raised claw setting, value £5; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold band engagement ring, set with a 1-1 ct. solitaire diamond, about in. diameter, in raised claw setting, value £100; a pair of binoculars, 8 magnifications, black leatherette covering over eyepieces, contained in a light-tan leather case with name “ N. J. McLeod on it, strap attached; a ladies’ gold wristlet watch, round dial about the size of a shilling, “ E.M.H.” or E. Hardley ” scratched inside case; a ladies’ gold wristlet watch, square dial ; and a ladies’ gold signet ring with “ E.H.” on it; total value, £139. Identifiable. f ds 3/' M

A.M., 1939.” (2) Branded “ Moore and Wright (Sheffield), Ltd., England, No. 990 P/12.” (3) Probably either of the above brands and with Air Department markings ; total value, £9. Identifiable.

Masterton.— Between 24th August last and 2nd ultimo, from the Quartermaster’s store, Otaki Camp, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -303 calibre service rifle, barrel No. C. 7924, butt disc No. 212 ; value, £8 lOp. Identifiable.

Wellington. 'Between the 24th and 29th June last, from the staff quarters, Berkeley Private Hotel, Oriental Terrace, the property of MARIE COOK, £6 in money; and a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring with three diamonds set in halfhoop claw setting, scratch on inside of shank; value, £4O. Ring identifiable.

Wellington.— loth August last, from the dwelling of PEARL BARTON, 11 Durham Crescent, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring > with three diamonds in straight claw setting, value, £37 10s.; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring with two diamonds in a crossover claw setting, value, £32 10s.; and a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring with seven diamonds in cluster setting, value, £lB.
