Auckland. 2oth May last, from the Cornwall Park Military Camp, the property of DAVID WILLIAM SHEPHERD and ROBERT EWAN NESS, soldiers, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold open face pocket watch ; a 9 ct. gold chain, tee in centre ; a rolled-gold round sovereign case ; a 9 ct. gold Maltese cross with a ruby in centre ; a silver oval medal, “ Tyrone Musketry ” engraved on it; a 9 ct. gold round five-point star medal, about the size of a shilling, “ G ” engraved on centre ; and about £1 10s. in money; total value, £ll ss. Between the Ist and 3rd March last, from a boat-shed, the property of WILLIAM MIDDLEMISS, a 21 h.p. air-coqled Eclipse outboard motor, slight crack which has been ’bolted in cover over fan, high speed and low speed feed arms in shape of fingers, one of which is broken, protrude through slots on side ; value £45. Rotorua. 7th May last, from the Grand Hotel, the property of MARTIN GREENWOOD, care of Hastings Club, Hastings, and GEORGE COTTERILL, Riverlea, Hastings, a split-cane fishing-rod, 10 ft. long, porcelain rings, made in Christchurch; and a split-cane fishing-rod, 10 ft. long, made in Scotland ; and a gold medal split bamboo fishing-rod, No. B/22498, 10 ft. 6 in. long, weight 9 oz. 6 dr., agate rings, cork handle, fitted with contracted Hardy Perfect reel ; total value, £34. Palmerston North. l6th ultimo from Awapuni Racecourse Camp, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -45 calibre six-chambered Colt revolver, “ N.Z.D. 5-20 No. 18 ”on side of butt; value, £5 18s. Identifiable.

Wellington.— About the 13th April last, the property of BERNARD GEORGE DENLEY RUSSELL, soldier, a ■22 calibre Remington single-shot rifle, No. 339519 ; value, £1 10s. Identifiable. The rifle was lost or stolen from a motor-lorry between Hastings and Haumoana.

Wellington. —On the 9th and 16th May last, the countinghouse of ARTHUR GOODMAN, furrier, Mandell’s Buildings, 101 Willis Street, was broken into and the following stolen A southern flank musquash fur coat which has been burned in several places and is of use for repair work only; one Chinese white rabbit sleeveless cape, trimmed with white Russian hare fur, pointed at back, value £7 10s. ; sixty packets (tens) of Craven A cigarettes; thirteen cigars; three i- lb. boxes of chocolates; a purple fountain-pen with black lines in diagonal checks, “ A.G.” in gold thereon; a London tan fibre suit-case, about 24 in. by 14 in. by 6 in., fitted with two nickel locks and composition handle, lined with white paper. This case is part of picnic case, lid lined with a number of straps for holding articles; six pairs of gentlemen’s light-coloured woollen sox with elastic tops ; three ties, one grey; a pair of gentlemen’s Rack kid shoes, size 8, Crockett and Jones make; six pairs of cheap silk stockings; Id. and 2d. stamps, value 2s. ; a silver cigarettecase, about 4/ in. by 34 in., gilt inside, “ A.G.” thereon ; and four cheque-forms, No. E. 265228-231, on the Bank of New Zealand, Te Aro, Wellington ; total value, £27 3s. 2d. Kaikoura. Between November, 1941, and 15th April last, from a shed, the property of SYDNEY CORMACK, Lyttelton, a 12-gauge double-barrel breech-loading hammer gun, Belgian make, crack in stock repaired with piece of steel about 8 in. long, one hammer missing; value, £2. Identifiable.

Christchurch.— On the 21st or 22nd ultimo, McDougall’s Public Art Gallery,, Botanical Gardens, was broken into and the following stolen : A coloured oil painting of a lifesize nude woman in a sleeping position entitled “ Psyche ” (see photograph above), 61 in. wide and 35| in. long, painted by Solomon J. Solomon, R.A. ; value, £4OO. Identifiable. It was taken from it’s frame and can be rolled up. An attempt may be made to remove it from the Dominion.
