PROPERTY STOLEN.

Henderson. —7th or Bth April last, from a room at the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Whenupai, the property of LILA JOYCE MOORE, nurse, a ladies’ 9 ct. gold open-face wristlet watch, size of a shilling, white dial, “ L.J.T.” engraved on back, rolled-gold expanding bracelet; value, £B. Identifiable.

Auckland. 6th April last, from a motor-car while on the parking area at the back of the Chief Post-office, the property of GLORY MAUDE SPENCER, Buekland’s Beach, a brown fibrecane suit-case, 24 in. by 18 in. ; a string of graduated pearls with oblong diamante clasp; a black and gold coloured dressing gown; a pair of navy-blue bib overalls, “ X.L.” brand, size 5; five floral frocks, one with pleated skirt, two with V-shaped pockets; two pairs of gentlemen’s interlock singlets, Debonair brand; three pairs of ladies’ white knickers ; a blue floral nightdress ; a set of gentlemen’s apricot-coloured silk pyjamas ; a pair of ladies’ beach shoes, wooden heels and soles, white and green cross-over straps; a pair of ladies’ white sand shoes; some music, including “ Fairy Tales of Ireland ” and “ It’s a Lovely Day To-morrow ” ; total value, £23 3s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —Between the 16th and 18th ultimo, the shop of GREIG AND ESTERMAN, LTD., 424 Queen Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A black Remington portable typewriter, Elite model; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Auckland.—or 26th November last, from the Awanui Private Hospital, the property of MABEL EVELYN MOIR, Papamoa, Te Puke, a ladies’ gold rectangular wristlet watch, strip of blue enamel around case with gold leaves on it, may have “ McPherson ” on inside back case, gold expanding wrist-band ; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Auckland. —29th or 30th March last, from a motor-truck in Eldon Road, Takapuna, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a heavy duty tire, 700 x 20, “ Army ” burned in side ; a tube, 700 x 20 ; and a well base rim to fit Ford V 8 two-ton truck, painted khaki; total value, £l6 12s. 6d. Identifiable.

Auckland.- — 6th ultimo, from the Salvation Army Working Mens’ Home, Lome Street, the property of WILLIAM JOHN RUST, a green fibreeane suit-case, about 24 in. by 12 in., with two straps; a bottle-green two-piece sports suit, size 4; a dark-grey two-piece suit with black stripes; a dark-green shirt with brown stripes, 15J in. collar; a light-green silk shirt with faint white stripes, 15|-in. collar; a wine-coloured woollen polo jersey; two Parisian ties; and a Nugget boot-cleaning outfit; total value, £l3 ss. 4d. Identifiable.

Auckland. 22nd or 23rd April last, from the dwelling of the REV. ROBERT GEORG® COATS, 1 Vincent Street, a black fountain-pen, gold band with “ Rev. R. G. Coats ” engraved on it; a silver-mounted crystal communion winebottle, about 4 in. high, octagonal shape, silver screw top ; a three-cell nickel torch ; a light-blue shirt with grey stripes, size 5 ; a set of gold buttons; a gold chain with pendant set with pearls and amethysts ; several tie-pins and trinkets ; three packets of ivory-tipped De Reszke cigarettes; and £3 15s. 6d. in money, contained in an envelope with “ Pengelly-Bates wedding, 23rd May, 5.15 p.m., fees paid,” written on it; total value, £l2 4s. 2d. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. — 9th ultimo, from a counter in Wool worths, Ltd., Queen Street, the property of JUSTINA FORSYTH, 9 Ferncroft Street, £35 cash; a cheque for £2 10s., No. 287201, drawn on the Bank of Australasia, Wanganui, in favour of J. Forsyth, and signed “ J. Forsyth,” dated the 23rd March last; a 9 ct. gold bracelet, alternate pearls and garnets in claw setting, snap fastener and safety chain; a brown crocodile leather purse, 12 in. by 7 in. by 2 in., chromium frame, snap fastener ; and a fire-insurance policy for £l5O with the South British Insurance Co., in complainant’s name ; total value, £42 15s. Identifiable.

New Plymouth. —l9th ultimo, from the dwelling of MARY ELLEN BARRETT, Upper Carrington Road, a ladies’ gold signet ring, “ W.M.8.” engraved on it; a 9 ct. gold signet ring; and an. alarm clock; total value, £ll. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Peter Stanley Cottlngham, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 371, and Photographs, 1936, page 22, and following paragraph. There have been other similar offences in New Plymouth, and in one instance a man of Cottingham’s description was seen riding a bicycle near the scene of the offence. He is said to be wearing a light-coloured sports coat, dark trousers, and dark cap.

New Plymouth.— ultimo, from the dwelling of LYDIA DORIS RUSTON, Main Road, Patua, an engagement ring, set with ruby in centre of octagonal cluster of ten diamonds ; an 18 ct. gold wedding ring ; a gentlemen’s signet ring, stone missing; a ladies’ 9 ct. gold floral design pendant, set with a large ruby surrounded by small rubies, broken chain, attached; a 9 ct. gold bracelet, set with a large ruby surrounded by pearls, snap fastener, safety chain; a Gillette safety-razor in case and shaving outfit; a pair of gentlemen’s gaberdine trousers, size 6 ; a pair of gentlemen’s grey tweed trousers, about size 5 ; a gentlemen’s blue Luvisca shirt, Milne and Ohoyce on tag; a gentlemen’s brown shirt with double cuffs; two pairs of gentlemen’s locknit underpants ; two locknit athletic singlets, size M; three pairs of gentlemen’s socks, one pair red and black and the others dark-grey; some soap ; and a quantity of foodstuffs; total value, £27 10s. The offender may be Peter Stanley Cottlngham, referred to in preceding paragraph, and Photographs, 1936, page 22. ,

Waiouru.— Between the 9th and 12th April last, from a motor-car on the parking area, Waiouru Camp, the property of ERIC ALEXANDER MOYLE, soldier, a five-valve allwave Mallard table model radio, type 520, serial No. 2509 ; value, £23 12s. Identifiable.

Otaki. —24th or 25th April last, from a paddock in. Lemon Street, the property of YOUNG DON, Kirk Street, a medium bay gelding, sixteen hands, age eight, large white patch between ears, bare patch on top of left shoulder, black points but off hind hoof lighter ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Wellington.— v; -'thr'2fst April last and 21st ultimo, from a motor-car in Lambton Quay, the property of FELIX PATRICK ANTHONY CAMPBELL, 528 High Street, Lower Hutt, a Kodak Junior camera of folding type, black leatherette case with chromium fittings, takes 120 film; and a brown leather wallet, 6 in. by 4 in., containing petrol coupons Nos. 14 to 36, and sundry papers ; total value, £9. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the 16th and 22nd ultimo, the property of CLAUDE ELISHA MILES, 32 Buller Street, a dark-green wooden, tail-board, 42 in. long and 14 in, wide ; a white canvas tarpaulin, 12 ft. by 10 ft. with brass eyelets ; and a collapsible wooden frame for tarpaulin ; total value, £2O. Identifiable. Complainant’s motor-truck was unlawfully removed from Buller Street, and when it was recovered in Woburn Road, Lower Hutt, it was discovered that the property described had been stolen.

Lyall Bay. Between 7th and 22nd April last, while being transferred from R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Rongotai, to R.N.Z.A.F. Sub-station, Petone, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Air Department), a -38 calibre Smith and Wesson nickel-plated revolver, serial No. 51431 G ; value, £2. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —Bth ultimo, from a bathroom in Storey’s Hotel, Manchester Street, the property of DOROTHY OLLIVER, 12 Cowper Street, Greymouth, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with five diamonds in straight claw setting, “ D.1.T., 23/2/16, A.V.0.” on inside ; value, £lB. Identifiable.

Dunedin. ultimo, from the flat of CHARLOTTE EMMA BARCLAY, 1 Muircourt Flat, View Street, an engagement ring, set with three diamonds and two emeralds or three emeralds and two diamonds in claw setting, value £3O; a black metal travelling clock, about 21- in. by 2 in. by f in. when folded, black luminous dial with strokes in place of numerals ; a white metal embossed trinket-box, 3 in. by 2 in., with blue satin lining : a gold chain with pearl ear-ring pendant; a small star brooch ; a diamante oblong brooch ; and a pair of filigree ear-rings ; total value, £4O 15s.
