Thames. — 19th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Thames Prison for five days in default of paying £3 ss. balance of fine and costs for failing to enrol in the Reserve, Peter Gough, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 71.

Henderson, alias Williams, age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., native of New Zealand, good build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, dark eyes ; well dressed in a navy-blue suit with pin stripes, grey overcoat, and hat; talkative ; fond of drink ; good appearance. He obtained £9 ss. 6d. in money from Joseph Moody, licensee, Te Puia Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO, No. A. 661606, drawn on the Bank of Australasia, Timaru, and signed “ C. W. Henderson,” which he tendered in payment of 14s. for his accommodation. On the 2nd ultimo he stayed at .the Tolaga Bay Hotel, but left next day without paying for his accommodation. Hawera.9th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, E. Collins ; wearing a grey overcoat, blue suit, and felt hat. He may be identical with Thomas James Hunter, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 426, and Photographs, 1928, page 41. He obtained £lO cash from Herbert Leslie Laurent, barman, Central Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Hawera, in favour of E. Collins, and signed “ J. Grogan.” The cheque-form had been stolen from the cheque-book of Mrs. Milne, London Dry Cleaning Co. He obtained a sports coat ; two pairs of lightgrey trousers ; two pairs of socks ; two shirts ; a tie ; and a pair of stockings, value £7 10s. 4d., from Hay’s Ltd., drapers, Gloucester Street, by falsely representing that he was W. Poo ley of 95 Hastings Street, and was employed by Sunderland’s Bakery. Offender may be identical with Edward Joseph Foley, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 43, and Photographs, 1937, page 67, who shared a room with William James Pooley at the Britannia Private Hotel, but he disappeared from the hotel on above date, and the following day was seen wearing clothing similar to that described, that described. l/7/^Aj-

Dunedin.— 2nd December last, on warrant for entering into New Zealand without a permit, Wong Wai Fai, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 49. On the above date he deserted from the ship “ Kenilworth.” £lO reward for information leading to his arrest has been guaranteed by H. L. Tapley and Co., Ltd., shipping agents.
