Parnell. —3rd instant, on warrant for failing to report for service with the armed forces when notified so to do, Thomas Phillip Cooper, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. ll£in., labourer and storeman, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, hazel eyes.

Hamilton. — 7th instant, on warrant for theft of a suit and suit-case (recovered); a dark-grey felt hat, size 7 ; a faded purple Summit shirt; a brown tie with white spots; a pair of brown and yellow socks; a silk singlet; a pair of underpants ; and a tin of Melrose tobacco ; total value, £lO 3s. Bd., the property of Wiremu Eruera Heta Arama, care of N. R. Taylor, Te Miro Road, Cambridge, Albert Wilton Peters, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 781, and Photographs, 1937, page 39. On the 7th August last the property described above was stolen from complainant’s hut, and accused had been seen near the hut about the time the offence was committed. On the 7th instant the suit and suit-case were sold to a second-hand dealer for 10s. by a man who gave the name A. W. Peters. _ ,

Masterton. —30th July last, on warrant for false pretences, Charles Tatnell, alias Charles Edward Falnall, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 821, and Photographs, 1931, page 50. Accused obtained a sheep-dog, value £9, from Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., by falsely representing that he had authority to purchase it on behalf of Walter Hibbard, farmer, Kopuaranga. On the 28th July last accused obtained employment with Mr. Hibbard and two days later he was authorized to attend a sale at Masterton to purchase a sheep-dog, but he purchased two dogs and then disappeared. An information has been laid charging him with the theft of the second dog, value £8 10s., the property of Walter Hibbard.

Masterton. —16th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of complying with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and children, James Bartealo RUSSO, alias McCarthy, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes : usually well dressed, . 5////V-

Hoist (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, fair complexion ; in possession of a green three- or four-ton Commer motor-truck , about 1936 model, with wooden sides about 36 in. high. Accused obtained the following-described tires and tubes, value £5 2s. 6d., from Nu-Tread Ltd., tire-remoulders, 66 Taranaki Street, by falsely representing that he was from the Shannon Dairy Co. Description: A Dunlop heavy-duty tire, 32 by 6, which has been regrooved with about four straight grooves; a tire, 30 by 3J, with beaded edge; and two tubes, 32 by 6, with angle-stem valves. No warrant. He may be identical with A. Hillcrest, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 712.

Wellington. 2lst instant, that he be located, Richard John Phelan, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 570. His probationary license has been cancelled, and his arrest and recommittal to the nearest prison is desired. (P. 41/1025.) ZB/ b/ 3.

Wellington. — Arthur Joseph Olsen, alias Sergius Povenski Nikolowitich, failing to comply with the conditions of his release from internment (see Police Gazette, 1941, page 794). Pursuant to Regulation 31 of the Aliens Emergency Regulations 1940, an order for his internment pending deportation has been issued, and when arrested an urgent communication is to he sent to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington. Accused obtained goods, value 45., and £2 16s. cash from Betty Doreen Allen, age fourteen, 467 Colombo Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £3, drawn on the Bank of New South Wales, -Christchurch, in,, favour of L. Wesney, and signed “S. Roundley.” Earßttf the same day he obtained the chequeform from Ernest Reid Cook, storekeeper, 399 Colombo Street. When the offence was committed complainant was attending to her mother’s confectionery shop during the latter’s absence. No warrant.

Christchurch.— ultimo, on/warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £23 10s. 6d. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his child, Benjamin Wallace Hodds George, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 569.
