Since, the 24th ultimo, Douglas Neil Henry, age twenty-two, height 6 ft. 6 in., farmer and soldier, native of New Zealand, strong build (weight about 16 st.), fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, thin features, scar about 8 in. long on right forearm ; wearing New Zealand battle dress of a private with blue and red stripe on shoulder. At about 11.30 p.m. on above date he left Ruakiwi in his motorcar apparently to go to his home about six miles away at Te Akau, but he failed to arrive, and the following morning the motor-car was found in a ditch about 14 miles from Ruakiwi with the right front tire deflated, the lights switched . off, and the ignition key missing.
