Auckland. — l6th or 17th February last, from clothing in a hut at Papakura Military Camp, the property of GEORGE DUNCAN- FENNELL, a gentlemen’s silver hunting key-, wind pocket watch, “ J.M.C.” scratched on shield on front case, black Roman numerals, “ B. 907 ” scratched on inside back case ; value, £3. Identifiable.

Auckland. l3th or 14th February last, from the dwelling of ETHEL MAUDE STACEY, 94. Market Road, Remuera, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with a row of three sapphires and two diamonds in claw setting, one sapphire may be an imitation ; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Auckland. — Between the 9th and 16th February last, from a room in Warwick House, Wellesley Street, the property of MINNIE LOCKYER, a ladies 9 ct. gold round wristlet watch, about 1 in. in diameter, white dial with gold dots between numerals, rolled-gold chain bracelet; value, £3 10s. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Rita Wells, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 331, who stayed at Warwick House about the time the offence was committed, and she has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland. —26th December -or Ist-January last, the property of DR. EDWARD HENRY BRITTON MILSOM, 18 Waterloo Quadrant, a pair of small black Carl Zeiss binoculars, 8x magnification, “ H. B. C. Milsom ” engraved on bottom portion, black leather strap ; value £35. Identifiable. The binoculars were stolen from complainant while he was attending the races at Ellerslie.

Auckland. Between the 22nd December and 20th January last, from the launch “ Rita near Munro’s fishing wharf, the property of NICHOLAS CHARLES .JAMES, 3 Boyle Crescent, Grafton, two fishing-nets, about 12 ft. high and 120 yd. long, 4J in. mesh; a wooden box, 24 in. by 18 in. by 10 in., containing set line of two hundred hooks ; a nickel-plated acetylene lamp, 9 in. high, reflector at back of burner; a hemp line, 70 yd. long, J in. thick; a black net needle of bone appearance, 6 in. long; and a drum containing forty-two gallons of Dieseline fuel oil; total value, £29 16s. 6d. Portion identifiable. The oil was stolen from Munro’s Wharf.

Auckland. 7th January last, from the person of JOHN JOSEPH HARRINGTON, 140 Vincent Street, a gentlemen’s silver open-face English lever watch with Roman numerals, made by William Smollens and Co., “ 6 ” in square, T.R.H. over 2170 over 65235 on inside of back case; value, £5. Identifiable.

Thames.— Between the 18th and 24th January last, from the. rear of Shortland Fisheries, the property of LEWIS MORGAN HAYWARD, a Seine schnapper-nct of No. 9 string, 4J in. mesh, slung on manila rope, double lines and lead line ; value, £3O. Identifiable.

Wellington. —l9th February last, from the dwelling of MAY EVANS, 90 Roxburgh Street, a five-valve Philips wireless set, serial No. 10197, Theatrctte model with no chassis,. brown bakelite cabinet size 17 in. wide, 13Jin. high, 6 in. deep ; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Wellington. —23rd February last, from the Army, Navy, and <> Air Force broom, the property of GILBERT LLEWELLYN ROBERT HENDERSON, 10 Jack Street, Karori, a Hohner 48 bass piano-accordion, Verdii 11, one connecting strap missing, white bellows from which one silver nipple is missing, contained in black case; value, £4l. Identifiable, .

Wellington. On the 20th December last, the dwelling of, GWENDOLINE ISABEL McGAVIN, 284 Main Road, Karori, was broken into and the following stolen : An engagement ring and two purses (recovered); a square jewel-case of imitation mottled greenstone, lined with black velvet, “ Jcnness and Partridge ” inside lid ; a narrow gold wedding ring, size M, platinum leaves around it; a pair of golf gloves, brown leather palms, cream doe-skin backs which are perforated, size 6£ ; £9 3s. in money ; and a dark-red imitationleather tram-ticket holder with “ George Fowlds, Men’s Outfitters ”on it; total value, £54 7s. 6d. Identifiable. The purses were subsequently recovered in Monaghan Avenue. Wellington. —7th February last, from the dwelling of ALICE RUBY BLANDFORD, 77 Taranaki Street, a narrow 18 ct. gold wedding ring with platinum band of engraved orange blossoms around centre ; a gold engagement ring, platinum set with a cluster of seven diamonds and a small diamond on each side of it in triangular piece of platinum, centre diamond of cluster larger than others; a ladies’ gold round old wristlet watch, indentations around dial which has turned yellow with age, expanding gold bracelet with some springs missing from it; and a cheque-book on the North End Branch of the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, containing sixteen forms, Nos. 176481-176496; total value, £45 12s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Leonard Cyril Ferguson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 212, and Photographs, 1937, page 40. He was seen near the room from where the property was stolen, and he has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Wellington. lst ultimo, from a motor-car in Hunter Street, the property of EDITH HENRY, 209 Derwent Street, Island Bay, a brown fibre suit-case with wooden bands, 32 in. by 10 in. by 18 in., containing a brown frock; a black dinner frock; a georgette frock ; a black and white georgette frock ; a navy-blue costume with cream-coloured vest; seven pairs of flesh-coloured stockings; and some underclothing ; a pair of brown kid gloves trimmed with green; a pair of plain navy-blue gloves; a pair of black gloves with white trimmings; a black and white cardigan; some handkerchiefs ; a pair of navy-blue trousers; a blue blazer; three sets of heavy pyjamas with pink and blue stripes ; six pairs of coloured socks ; four white shirts ; two blue shirts ; two grey shirts ; a fawn shirt; two white silk shirts (all shirts 16J in. collar bands); total value, £4O. Identifiable.

Wellington.— l4th February last, from a motor-car, the property of THOMAS HOWARD JARVIS, 5 Elizabeth Street, a pair of black Zeiss binoculars, No. 38701 ; value, £ls. Identifiable. On the 14th February last complainant’s motor-car was unlawfully removed from Elizabeth Street, and when it was recovered next day the binoculars were missing.

I’iCTON. —Between the Ist May, 1939, and 29th August, 1940, from a dwelling at Ngakuta Bay, the property of SARAH GODWIN SEYMOUR, 20 Victoria Road, New Plymouth, a black leather jewel-case containing a ladies’ gold watch with gold dial, engraving on dial and case; a ladies’ gold Chatelaine watch-chain with topaz seal attached ; a ladies’ gold ring, originally set with five sapphires but one is missing; a ladies’ gold band ring, set with three moonstones ; a ladies’ gold marquise ring, red carbuncle in centre with four small diamonds ; a ladies’ gold pink amethyst ring with old paste diamonds around it; two ladies’ gold curb bracelets, one has small gold padlock attached; a silver necklet with pendent moonstones; a silvered gilt necklet with pink amethyst; a ladies’ gold pendant attached to gold chain with turquoise and brooch to match; a ladies’ gold chain brooch, heart in centre with pearl inset; a string of seed beeds with pendent topaz heart set in gold ; a small purple amethyst brooch surrounded by pearls; a ladies’ gold brooch, clover-leaf pattern with moonstones in centre; a ladies’ gold brooch with fox-head and hunting-crop across it; and a large brass tray with Indian design on it; total value, £4l 17s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Jack Ewart, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, auburn hair, natural teeth. He was employed by complainant, and he has been convicted of stealing some articles from trunks and boxes in the dwelling, but he denied stealing any of the above-described property.

Dunedin. —l9th February last, from clothing in a shed at the railway-station, the property of RALPH CYRIL EDWARD KELLY, 337 Main Road, Cavcrsham, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold square open-face wristlet watch, No. 161 stamped on corner of each case, Arabic luminous numerals, gold-plated metal wrist-strap ; value, £3 3s. Identifiable.
