APPREHENSIONS, PERSONS FOUND, ETC.

Devonport.— Douglas Vivian Sharkey, deserting Navy, has been arrested by the Matamata police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 194.)

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). — Cyril Victor Hasemore, deserting ship, has been arrested by the Christchurch police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 675.)

Queen Street .Wharf (Auckland). Alfred Walter Caldwell, deserting ship, has been arrested by the Dunedin police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, pages 31 and 95.)

Auckland.— Frank M. Bashford, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Te Puke police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 191.)

Auckland. — Douglas Sharkey, suspected of theft, has been interviewed by the Matamata police, but no evidence resulted. He is identical with Douglas Vivian Sharkey, referred to above. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 867.)

Auckland. Albert Jellicoe Kitchener Hill, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Wharf (Wellington) police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 887.)

Auckland. Two Men (names unknown), theft of money from Frederick Richard Quinton, have been arrested by the Ashburton police on another charge, and they admitted the Auckland offence. The man numbered “1 ” in the notice regarding the offence is Charles Lewis Peeples, alias Bourke, alias Lane, and the man numbered “ 2 ” is Cecil Gambell, alias Jack Lenard, and they are both referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 243. They are Australian confidence men. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 38.)

Onehunga. Arthur Richardson, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Invercargill police. (See Police Gazette, 1935, page 604.)

Opotiki. John Bell, alias James Bell, default of fines and costs, has been arrested by the Tauranga police. He assumed the name James McGregor. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 32.)

Napier.- Edward Joseph Cleary, summons for, has been located by the Napier police, and no further action is to be taken. (See Police Gazette, 1931, page 77.)

Napier. — Edward Joseph Cleary, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Napier police. (Sec Police Gazette, 1934, page 442.)

Napier.— Walter James McDonald, alias James McDonald, default of fine and costs, has been arrested by the Wellington police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 32.)

, Wanganui. Sonny Moran, alias Stanley Leslie Jamieson William Matthews, assault, has been arrested by the Wellington police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, pages 158 and 191.)

Palmerston North.- William Jones, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 130, died at Palmerston North on the 17th instant.

Wellington. — David Buckiand, default of balance of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Auckland police, lie assumed the name Samuel Kelly. (See Police Gazette, 1941. page 96.)

Wellington. —Cyril Henry Clapshaw, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Trentham police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 174.)

Wellington.— Goddard Evans, alias George James Evans, unlawfully converting motor-car, has been arrested by the Wellington police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 192.)

Wellington.— Gilbert Clarence Connor, theft, has been arrested by the Wellington South police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 192.)

Wellington.— John Robert McKay, alias L. Riddiford, false pretences, has been arrested by the Christchurch police, and he admitted the offences. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 192.)

Wellington.— Monica Ormandy, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1941, page 212): It has now been ascertained that her correct name is Eileen Agnes Buckley. All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly.

Wellington.— Vincent Bodingstone, absent from ship, has been arrested by the Mount Cook police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 220.)

Nelson. — L. Riddiford, false pretences, has been arrested by the Christchurch police, and he admitted the offence. He is identical with John Robert McKay. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 158.)

Blenheim. — John Robert McKay, false pretences, has been arrested by the Christchurch police, and he admitted the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 140.)

Timaru. — Frederick strulla Guy, default of maintenance, has been arrested by the Barfield police. (See Police Gazette, 1940, page 980.)

Dunedin. —Herbert James Truesdale, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Dannevirke police. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 192.)

Invercargill.— Gordon McDonald Mcßae, default of maintenance, has been arrested by the Otaki police. (See Police Gazette, 1940, page 780.)
