The gold was retained by the company mentioned for valuing purposes, but the man did not call back again. An envelope containing the scrap gold bore the name and address “ J. James and Grace, Gown Specialists, 32 George Street, by falsely representing that she lived at Marton and that she was in a position to forward a cheque in payment on the 23rd September : A wool georgette suit of dark clover shade ; a scarf of various shades about 1 ft. wide and 3 ft. 6 in. long ; and a putty- coloured satin blouse with embroidered neck; total value, £ll Is. Suit and blouse identifiable. On the 16th September last a woman who gave the name Miss Crawshaw, obtained the following articles from Miss Sandman’s Frock Shop in Coleman Piace by falsely representing that she lived at Bulls and would forward a cheque on the 18th September: A ladies’ wine-coloured hat with small double peaks, no brim at back; a ladies’ blue soft sports hat with angora fleck, turned up at back; and a scarf of various colours with red and blue predominating, 3 ft. 4| in. long and 12 in. wide; total value, £3 13s. lid..
