Auckland.— 2lst March last, on warrant for false pretences, Joshua Charles IVlcAlees, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 81 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, lightbrown hair, blue eyes, scar below left knee. Accused obtained 12s. 6d. in money from Arthur John Greenwood by falsely representing that he was one D. G. Grant, that his wife was to be operated on in Napier Hospital, and that he required the money for benzine. He failed to appear in answer to a summons. Auckland. 3rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for one month in default of paying £ls 10s. arrears on a maintenance order, William Dempsey, age fortyone, height 6 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, black hair, blue eyes, broad nose. Auckland. 2oth instant, that he may be located and interviewed regarding his ability to maintain his son, Desmond L. Windsor, William George Windsor, age about forty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., cook, native of England, thin build, fair complexion, hair going bald, blue eyes. His coupon-book is No. 2/241077. Inquiry is on behalf of the Social Security Department.
Auckland.— instant, that he may be located and the Department of Labour, Auckland, notified of his whereabouts, Harry Nolan, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 186. His coupon-book is No. 4/589234. . He owes £44 ss. to the Department of Labour, being the balance of his fare from England to this Dominion/ / .
Auckland. 2nd instant, for theft from a room in the Coronation Apartments, 81 Victoria Street West, of a suit (recovered), value £3, the property of Henry Thomas Gibbons, John Graham (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 11 in., good build, fresh complexion, brown hair. The suit was recovered in a second-hand shop where it had been sold for 7s. 6d. by a man of the description given above. No warrant juntfrv' 1 * £g/9/ H D .
Rotorua. —16th instant, on warrant for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), John Alfred Roy Ghote, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 376. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer. The original charge on which he was released on probation was theft at Rotorua of £4 in money, the property of Joseph Tau.
Palmerston North. —16th ultimo, for theft of £lO, the property of Harold Frederick Tattersfield, radio engineer, Man (name unknown), who on the 14th ultimo called on complainant and introduced himself as “ McDowell,” a brother of Tattersficld’s friend. He informed complainant that he knew of a “ winner ” for the Hastings races, and Tattersfield gave him £1 to invest on the horse. Two days later the man again called on complainant and said the horse had won and returned a dividend of £lO, but that he had only a £SO note. He borrowed £lO from Tattersfield ostensibly until he got change for the note, and has not been heard of since. The photograph of Henry Thomas Carsfairs, -G/IMZ referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 590, and Photographs, 1936, page 62, has been identified as that of accused. / / No warrant.

Wellington. ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of paying £SO 9s. lid. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Henry Hewlett Valentine, age forty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on right jaw. He may be released on payment of £ls. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 402.)
Christchurch.— April last, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Elsie Minnie Gray, and child,, Arthur James Gray, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 4 in., seaman and trimmer, native of England, fair hair, blue eyes; pugilist' and “I.L. L. S.” on arms. Arrears to 22nd April last, £33. He may be identical with Arthur James Wright alias Gray, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 201. 7[
