PERSONS WANTED.

Whang ARBI. — 11th instant, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Alexander Brown Nathan, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 416. Arrears to 22nd April last, £ll2 Os. 6d. .

Auckland. —2nd instant, on warrant for assault with intent to commit rape, Chung Kow Dan, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., fruiterer, native of China, medium build, ruddy complexion, dark hair going bald, brown eyes, natural teeth except three in centre of upper jaw which are artificial, four vaccination-scars on each upper arm ; dressed in a bluish-grey suit, tan shoes, blue shirt, blue soft collar, and bluish-grey tie with small diamond pattern (no hat); shuffling gait. Accused assaulted his daughter-in-law, Nina Reremoana Dan, of 70 Cook Street, with intent to commit rape, and on the 4th instant he was brought before the Court on the charge. He was remanded to appear again on the 11th instant and released on bail, but he failed to appear, and on that day his overcoat was found on the wharf. Mad/ 7/Vby

Auckland. —18th May last, for unlawfully converting to his own use a motor-car, value £2OO, the property of Douglas Allen Browne, 1294 Dominion Road, Mount Roskill, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 4 in., stout build, light-coloured hair ; wearing a light-fawn overcoat. He walked with a limp, and may have been injured in an accident with the above-mentioned motor-car which was unlawfully removed from Albert Street and driven to Brighton Road, Parnell, where it was abandoned in a damaged condition. He was seen leaving it. No warrant.

Auckland. —4th March last, on two warrants for theft of a watch, value £l, and theft of £1 in money, the property of Cecil Kernonhan, Norman Bennie Butcher, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., hotel porter, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, fair straight hair, natural teeth. He was employed at the Esplanade Hotel, Devonport, when he • committed the offences. Auckland. —2sth April last, for unlawfully converting to their own use a Chevrolet Coupe Do Luxe motor-car (recovered), registration No. 91,078, value, £330, the property of Reginald George Hodges, licensee Alpha Hotel, Ivihikihi, Two Men (names unknown) —(1) Age about twentytwo, height 5 ft. 9 in., pale complexion, (bin face. (2) Age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., high cheek-bones. They were of foreign appearance, and each wore a light-coloured raincoat over a dark suit. No warrant.

Hamilton. —22nd ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for having liquor in his control in the vicinity of a dance-hall, Herbert Ansley Roxburgh, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of New Zealand, strong build”, fresh complexion, dark hair ; neat appearance. -^'Cdi L y^cl / .

Gisborne. 27th May last, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for two months in default of paying £2l 18s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Sarah Fisher McKay, domestic, is the mother, Alexander Waugh, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., painter, native of Scotland, medium build, pale fair complexion, fair hair; a soccer player, and also a good amateur boxer. He may be released on payment of £7 15s. 6d. He is also wanted on another warrant "of commitment to Gisborne Prison for twenty-eight days in default of paying £45 Bs. 6d. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Norma Meryl Francks is the mother.

Taumabunui.— 2oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £l3 arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Dorothy Stuart Knap, Robert Ernest Knap, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 202. 'fvCud/fo/z/itD.

Wanganui. —l2th instant, on warrant to apprehend for failing to maintain his wife, Mavis Olive Collis, and two children, Norman Lawrence Collis, age’twenty-eight, height 5 it. 10J in., mill hand and labourer, native of England, slight build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, good teeth ; usually dressed in a blue suit. Dunedin. —sth ultimo, for false pretences, Two Men j , (names unknown), who are believed to be identical with -j- '&J( John Alexander O’Donnell, referred to in Police Gazette, , q 1940, page 272, and Photographs, 1939, page 5, and George ■ Lloyd Jones, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 87, and Photographs, page 58. Two men called on George Alexander Cockburn, fishmonger, 296 Main South Road, Caversham, and obtained £lO from him by falsely representing that they were off the ship “ Surrey,” and that complainant’s predecessor in the fish-shop had arranged with them to procure two sets of motor-tires which they alleged were on the ship. Cockburn, on behalf of the previous occupier of the shop, paid them the £lO and gave them the address to which the tires were to be sent. Nothing more was heard oi-the tires or the offenders. They were in possession of a motor-car, registration No. 2,633, which is the property of Percy Major (referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 176), who has been interviewed and stated that the suspects had the use of his motor-car about the date on which the offence was committed. No warrant.
