Whang ARBI. — 11th instant, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Alexander Brown Nathan, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 416. Arrears to 22nd April last, £ll2 Os. 6d. .

Accused assaulted his daughter-in-law, Nina Reremoana Dan, of 70 Cook Street, with intent to commit rape, and on the 4th instant he was brought before the Court on the charge. He walked with a limp, and may have been injured in an accident with the above-mentioned motor-car which was unlawfully removed from Albert Street and driven to Brighton Road, Parnell, where it was abandoned in a damaged condition. He was seen leaving it. No warrant.

Two men called on George Alexander Cockburn, fishmonger, 296 Main South Road, Caversham, and obtained £lO from him by falsely representing that they were off the ship “ Surrey,” and that complainant’s predecessor in the fish-shop had arranged with them to procure two sets of motor-tires which they alleged were on the ship. Cockburn, on behalf of the previous occupier of the shop, paid them the £lO and gave them the address to which the tires were to be sent. Nothing more was heard oi-the tires or the offenders. They were in possession of a motor-car, registration No. 2,633, which is the property of Percy Major (referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 176), who has been interviewed and stated that the suspects had the use of his motor-car about the date on which the offence was committed.
