PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. During tho night of 25th January last, from the washhouse of Cutler’s apartment house, 4 Franklin Hoad, the property of HAROLD INNS CUTLER and another, a large Stanley plane ; a black emery wheel about 6| in. diameter; a Plumb hammer; a set of five spanners; a black Stanley iron spokeshave; a pair of steel-jawed wirecutters, 12 in. long ; a 10 in. shifting spanner ; a small shifting spanner; two cold chisels; an axe; a Plumb tomahawk; two small coal-shovels; a blue linen table runner, 36 in. long, daisies on ends; live tablecloths, one with white checks, and one is white linen, 50 in. by 54 in., with 3 in. border ; two cream-coloured imitation lace runners; two white linen pillow-shams, white daisies worked on them and butterfly in centre ; and a linen serviette ; total value, £9 16s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —During the night of 12th March last, the office of MALCOLM JAMES KIDD, garage proprietor, Great South Road, was broken into and the following stolen : . One shilling in coppers; a quantity of cigarettes of various brands ; a box of Zig-Zag cigarette-papers ; three boxes of P.K. chewing gum; five sheets of petrol-coupons, three white and two pink ; and four oil-fuel licenses, one in name Kidd, No. 162504, one in name D. R. Revell, No. 170378, and two in name Lopdell, Nos. 171586 and 171587 ; total value, £4 17s. Fuel licenses only identfiable.

Auckland. GILBERT EDWARD JOHN McKINLEY, 6 Sainsbury Street, Mount Albert, a black leatherette teaspoon-case, 7 in. by 6 in. by 1 in., containing six silver teaspoons with chased handles; a brown leatherette case, 8 in. by 6 in. by 1 in., containing six afternoon tea-forks, chased handles; a lightblue leatherette case, 11 in. by 8 in. by 2 in., containing six salad-forks and six silver salad-spoons, with tarnished chased handles ; a shaving-brush ; and £3 6s. 3d. in money ; total value, £ll 10s. 9d. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. 3rd March last, from the office of the Olympic Swimming Baths, Newmarket, the property of STANLEY SELLER, 63 Great South Road, Remuera, a gentlemen’s sterling silver oblong Swiss wristlet watch, 16-jewel, Arabic numerals, repair“ No. 2530 ’’scratched on inside case, silver wristlet; and a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold signet ring, octagonshaped top with “ S.S.” on it; total value, £lO. Identifiable. The property was collected from the office by a Man (no description available) who represented himself to be the owner.

Auckland. —19th March last, from the motor-car of MURRAY DEAN ELLIMGHAM, Flat 6, Marino Gardens, Mount Eden Road, a motorvox car-horn, chromium grill on front, 6 in. diameter, inside painted green; and a bird-shaped chromium Vauxhall motor-car mascot, about 4 in. long, tail sawn off; total value, £2 2s. Identifiable. Complainant’s motor-car was unlawfully removed from Swanson Street, and when it was recovered in Pilkington Road, Mount Wellington, on the 21st March last, it was discovered that the above-described parts had been stolen. The two men described below were seen in the motor-car on the night of the 19th March(l) Age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 11 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair ; wearing a navy-blue suit and khaki shirt (no hat); believed to be a half-caste Maori. (2) Age about nineteen, height about 5 ft. 4 in., Maori, medium build, thick lips ; wearing a navyblue suit (no hat.)

Auckland. 23rd March last, from the motor-car of MAURICE HERBERT BATTSON, Augustus Street, Thames, a tweed overcoat, value £6 (recovered); a buff-coloured curtain for right-hand side of Morris 8 roadster motor-car; a dark-brown leather overcoat, check cloth lining, fitted with leg fastenings at bottom, fit man about 5 ft. 6 in., left shoulder slightly scored, belt attached; a navy-blue felt hat, size 6f in.; an Agfa camera in light chocolate-coloured leather case, 120 film, branded “ Agfa Speedex,” “ M.H.8.” on front flap of case ; a ladies’ bottle-green overcoat, action back, fit woman about 5 ft. 2 in., half lined with bottle-green silk ; a ladies’ navy-blue brimless felt hat; a round leather cushion, about 15 in. diameter, 2 in. thick, worked in tapered strips of leather, about 2£ in. wide at outside, converging in to circle in centre, leather handle on side with zip-fastener underneath ; a piece of heavy canvas about 72 in. by 48 in.; a £ in. Crestoloid Crescent spanner, branded “M. 8.” ; a 10 in. Stilson wrench, branded “ M.” ; a swivel-jawed wrench of chrome vanadium steel; two pairs of pliers ; and about 27 ft. of fin. rope; total value, £l9 ss. 6d. Identifiable. Complainant’s motor-car was unlawfully removed from Albert Street, and when it was recovered in Mount Street on 29th March last, the property described above had been stolen. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 10£ in., fair hair, who subsequently sold the recovered overcoat to a second-hand dealer.

Auckland. —lst or 2nd April last, from a motor-car, the property of OLIVE DORCAS NEW, Park Flats, Waterloo Quadrant, a tennis-racquet, value £3 (recovered); a Slazenger Match Point tennis-racquet, in square wooden press, leather hand-grip, blue trimmings on frame a pair of gentlemen’s grey shorts ; an imitation leather fire-screen, 30 in. by 18 in., grey on one side, brown on other side, metal feet; a grey flannel-tweed rug, 54 in. by 36 in., edge bound with grey satin; a tennis eye-shade with brown net attached; : total value, £8 15s. Identifiable. Complainant’s motor-car was unlawfully removed from a lane off Hobson Street and when it was recovered on the 3rd April last, in Cook Street, it was discovered that the property described above had been stolen. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion and hair ; wearing a dark-grey or navy-blue suit (no hat); well spoken. The tennis-racquet was recovered from a second-hand dealer to whom it had been sold by the man described above.

Auckland. —lßth April last, from a train between Rotorua and Auckland, the property of ALICE MARY PAULSEN, Waimauku, a fibre-cane hat-box, 14 in. by 24 in. by 12 in., containing four pairs of brown stockings; a pair of green slippers, size 5; three nightdresses; a pink floral beach frock ; a navy and blue floral frock; a white petticoat; a navy-blue cardigan ; a pink georgette silk blouse ; a child’s blue knitted jersey ; and an oblong pyrex dish ; total value, £8 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Auckland. 29th March last, from the St. Matthews Church Hall, Hobson Street, the property of ELIZABETH ST. CLAIR, 77 Vauxhall Road, Devonport, a black leather purse, 8 in. by 9 in., black silk lining, leather rucked on one side, containing a £5 note, three £1 notes, and a 10s. note; a post office savings-bank book in complainant’s name, No. 676561 ; an Auckland Savings-bank book, No. 6401, in name Shove; and sundry papers; total value, £9 17s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. —19th April last, from tho Trades Hall, Hobson Street, the property of THOMAS JAMES ROBINSON, 34 Ponsonby Road, a gentlemen’s double-breasted dark-navy-blue overcoat with white pin points, black satin lining, “ City Tailors, George Street, Sydney ” near inside pocket, size 4 ; value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. CHAMPION, No. 4 Flat, Ridgefield Flats, Parnell, a black morocco leather handbag, about 12 in. by 7 in., dull steel bar on top, strap on back, black silk lining, containing an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with a large diamond in centre and three small diamonds on each side of it in straight platinum box setting; an 18 ct. gold ring, set with two opals each about size of pea; an Auckland Post Office Savingsbank book, No. 212285, in complainant’s name; twelve trunk and suit-case keys; and £4 15s. in money; total value, £37 Is. Identifiable except money. Complainant lost the bag and contents in the city.

Te Kuiti. —Between the 22nd and 29th December, 1939, from a hut on tho farm of Mr. G. Livesey, Piopio, the property of GEORGE ROBERT BUCKLEY, a nickel hexagonshaped wristlet watch, screw-on back, luminous dial, glass scratched and slightly cracked, leather wrist band ; value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Leslie Emmett Wilson, age about twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, ginger hair. Suspect was employed by Mr. Livesey under the name Pat Martin while complainant was absent on holidays, and he had been seen wearing a watch similar to the one stolen. New Plymouth. Between 20th and 22nd March last, from a motor-car in Kawau Street, the property of ROY HARLAND CHARTERS, 116 Hine Street, two Morris Cowley motor-car wheels, fitted with 500 x 19 Dunlop tires, spokes painted red ; total value, £9. Identifiable.

Wanganui. During the night of 12th April last, from the wool-shed of PHILIP VAUGHAN MACDONALD, Makirikiri, two Wolsley shearing-machine handpieces, model 10, Nos. 34640 and 34732 respectively ; two combs ; four cutters ; and a pair of shears used for foot-rot; total value, £ll 2s. The offence may have been committed by the Man (name unknown) described below, who is believed to have slept in the wool-shed during the night: Age about twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 7 in., thin build, ruddy complexion, long face ; Wearing a dark overcoat and felt hat.

Palmerston North. 2sth February last, from the dwelling of JOYCE MARGARET HOOPER, 472 College Street, an 18 ct. gold engagement ring, set with large diamond in centre and a smaller diamond on each side of it in straight platinum claw setting, similar to illustration No. 76 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 6 ; value, £2O. Identifiable.

Lower Hutt. On the Ist April last, the dwelling of ALFRED BENDING, Pinehaven, Sil verst ream, was broken into and the following stolen: A 9 ct. gold diamond and emerald ring, nine diamonds in cluster with emerald in centre; and a blue earthenware three-pint Neeco electricjug ; total value, £29 Is. 6d. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the 27th and 29th April last, from Parliament Grounds, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), a Union Jack, 3 yards, branded “ P.W.D.,” “ Union Jack ” on binding near rope; a French Ensign, 2 yards; and a Samoan flag, 2 yards ; total value, £3 15s. Identifiable.

Blenheim. During the night of 21st ultimo, the Grovetown School was broken into and the following, the property of the SCHOOL COMMITTEE, stolen: A black H.M.V. portable gramophone ; eight 8 in. records ; and a Silver Bell Westclox alarm clock, about 4 in. diameter, bell on top; total value, £3 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty, labourer or swagger, slight build, ginger hair; wearing a light raincoat, grey trousers, and beret. At a house near the school suspect was given a parcel of food on the evening the offence was committed, and the wrapping paper from the parcel was found at the entrance to the school next morning.
