Accused obtained a saucepan, a “ billy,” two glasses, a teapot, and two dessert knives (total value £1 4s. lid.) from Robert Allen Gummer, hardware merchant, 151 Queen Street, by fraudulently representing that she lived at 15 Monte Le Grande Road, Mount Eden. No warrant.

Auckland. — 14th February last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for four days in default of paying £2 103. fine and costs for being drunk and disorderly, Leonard Hilton Lowndes, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 103, and Photographs, 1937, page 7

Accused obtained £5 in money from Henry John Giles, stationer, Cambridge, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount on the Union Bank of Australia, Dunedin, signed “J. He was served with a summons to appear at Picton Court on 11th instant, but he left accompanied by his wife on 21st ultimo. His wife booked her passage to Australia by the “ Awatea,” which sailed on the 30th ultimo, and it is believed that he will leave this Dominion. If he pleads guilty he may be dealt with at the place of arrest.
